As the electorate back home in Britain was yesterday attempting to digest the full horror of Alistair Darling's doomsday Budget, the Prime Minister's wife was enjoying an altogether more palatable occasion.
While her husband surveyed the wreckage of his country's economy, Sarah Brown mingled with celebrities and dined at the prestigious Ivy Restaurant in Hollywood.
Mrs Brown was clearly delighted to line up alongside the likes of Naomi Campbell, Katherine Jenkins and Sharon Osborne.
Champagne socialism in action folks.
Maybe we could report her for claiming benefits abroad? Or does that just apply to the little folk?....
