Labour is not working.

Lots of people not working under Labour.
  • Long-term unemployment is soaring, with a rise of nearly 50 per cent in the number out of work for at least 12 months;
  • Those over the age of 50 - the most difficult age to get a job - are the most vulnerable, with nearly 398,000 unemployed, the largest number for 15 years;
  • One in five of working age do not have a job, with the number of 'economically inactive' soaring to 8.1million, the highest since records began in 1971;
  • More than one million employees - another record - are being forced to work parttime because they cannot get a full-time job;
  • The employment rate is just 72.2 per cent, the lowest percentage of the working-age population to be in employment since 1996.
Although I do love the way that by a simple massage of figures this government can show that both "unemployment and also employment are both falling. Due to people being classed as economically inactive, that is those who just don't sign on, those on long-term sick and those who have stopped looking for a job."

So there you go, nicely massaged figures.

Bob Mugabe would be proud of Gordon.

Rejoice....

Doesn't everyone realise we're less than fifty days away from the end of one eyed misrule?

Then we get Blue Labour to carry on the status quo.

Happily we still only have about 2.5% unemployment in these parts, youngsters can still abandon one job on Friday and find another on Monday and good for them but I take your point about them massaging the figures, I caught the tedious tail end of it on the radio yesterday.
