Polly Toynbee of The Guardian - 2nd Rate Hack

Now The Guardian really manages to piss me off with its lefty whitterings and blathering on about its pet cause of the week be it Global Warming/Israel/George W Bush/Rise of the far right etc etc, but one that really gets my blood to boiling point is 2nd rate hack and Nu Labour pawn Polly Toynbee.

Each week this bloody woman blathers on about how super New Labour are, her head firmly shoved up her own arsehole unable to see whatever crisis is exploding across the news that week. Then we get the bit about how the Tories are still evil and the Lib Dems are - well the Lib Dems are just there lurking in the background. To be honest I cant have a pop at the Lib Dems as its sort of like kicking a defenceless puppy dog.

For example from her inane whine this week: "Cameron has caught the zeitgeist, but will fail to convince if his policies are no more than taxphobic windmills in his mind." - Sort of like our Chancellor Gordon "cyclops" Brown pissing away our hard earned cash on pet causes.

Oh and of course the pleading to the converted as to just how super New Labour are: "Because social justice is what fires most Labour people. Labour's only reason for existing is to stand for fairness, protect the underdog and know that money doesn't buy as much happiness as common social goods. Taxes are good value: health, education, the arts, parks or sports are more precious and pleasurable than anything bought in a shop." - Have to add here about that ass hat comment "taxes are good value", well not when they keep going up and the services they pay for are in freefall. Oh, and talking of underdogs is that why New Labour are helping defend Saudi torturers in UK courts against the very UK citizens they tortured in the first place?

Mind you in between her fliting between various New Labour problems even she had to let this nugget out: At the last general election, Blair polled only 1% more than Kinnock in 1992. Now you know when you only scrape by 1% past Neil "speeding ticket" Kinnock that your days in office are numbered.

But my main gripe is with this bit she popped into her article: His reform succeeds in making measurable improvements too.

Improvements? Where? The NHS thats falling apart and top heavy with New Labour appointed managers, our over stretched armed forces unable to supply the troops with proper equipment because its again run by countless appointed New Labour clones rather than army types. Education where we have just as many kids leaving school unable to string a few words together, yet alone master the basics of being able to write a CV. Oh and the ever spiraling business failures and tax rises.

Now at this point I was going to sit down and rip her article to shreds but as I am lazy I will let some other people do that for me http://factcheckingpollyanna.blogspot.com and also http://devilskitchen.blogspot.com/2006/05/polly-smells-coffee-almost.html

** UPDATE - Thursday 18th May - Reply from the 2nd rate hack Polly. As she had an email on her poor site I posted a copy of my post to her and so I was expected a point by point breakdown or some form of defence of her head up her arse fawning over Tone & Gord attitude, alas all I got was this:

Thanks for sending me your comments. Maybe you should read the people you
agree with and not those you don't. It might be better for your blood
pressure. So many columns and so many newspapers to chose from...Try
Melanie Phillips, Richard Littlejohn and many more who might be more to
your taste..

** Well the whole point of reading people that you disagree with is to get a broader picture, stay with the same people and you end up seeing the world through New Labour rose tinted glasses, or maybe working on The Guardian as a 2nd rate hack. As for Littlejohn & Phillips that she mentions even if you disagree with them at least they attempt to argue their points, unlike yourself. Oh my bloodpressure is fine by the way, oh and should try getting your e-mails laid out properly and not dropping a line half way through.
