Coalition forces received enemy machine gun fire from a rooftop upon arriving at the objective. Two other individuals with AK-47s had been seen fleeing that area just prior to the assault.

Coalition aircraft supporting the ground force immediately suppressed the enemy fire, killing seven.

Government of Iraq , MNF-I release more than 220 detainees
BAGHDAD, Iraq –
In the spirit of unity and reconciliation, the Government of Iraq and Multi-National Force - Iraq in a joint initiative released more than 220 security detainees June 11 from Coalition- run Theater Internment Facilities.

Vice President Tariq Al-Hashimi addressed the security detainees at Abu Ghraib Theater Internment Facility telling them, “You are entering a different world; you must give the government a chance and become productive members of society.”

This release is part of a Government of Iraq plan to release 2,500 security detainees in the month of June, and will be accomplished through a series of 200 – 500 person releases throughout the month.

The Iraqi Government has approved the release of those not guilty of serious, violent crimes such as bombing, torture, kidnapping and murder. The detainees must renounce violence and pledge to be good citizens of Iraq .

The decision to release is an acknowledgment by the Government of Iraq and MNF-I of the importance of progress toward democratic governance and the rule of law in a new Iraq.

BAGHDAD, Iraq (June 13, 2006) – U.S President George W. Bush paid a surprise visit to the International Zone in Baghdad Tuesday to congratulate Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki on the formation of a new Iraqi government.

The president was scheduled to be at Camp David with his cabinet to hold a video press conference with the prime minister.

Instead, he turned up in the Iraqi capital. The two heads of state spent a few hours in closed-door conversations.

Al-Maliki thanked Multi-National Force – Iraq for the support it provides his government and vowed that his country would “stay united and stay strong.”

The president said he told the prime minister “the future of your country is in your hands” and that he was impressed by the new Iraqi cabinet.

Bush said he admired al-Maliki’s commitment to the people of Iraq.

The president said Iraq was the front of the Global War on Terror and that America would continue to support the Iraqi government.

“I’ve come to tell you when America gives its word, it will keep its word,” he said to the prime minister, adding that Iraqis have “dealt a serious blow” to terrorism by forming a democratic government.

The President also spoke with troops at the end of his visit and congratulated them on killing al-Qaida in Iraq leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

“I appreciate your hard work”, he said. “This is a new chapter for the region … a historic time.”

And of course a repost of the classic owned pic of pedo scum and now dead terrorist Zarqawi (below). Seems that the terrorist foe have named their next top man for Iraq - not a job with any long term prospects methinks:

"Al-Qaida in Iraq's council has agreed on Sheik Abu Hamza al-Muhajer to be the successor for Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in the leadership of the organization," said a statement signed by the group on an Islamic militant Web forum where it often posts messages.

It said al-Muhajer was "a beloved brother with jihadi (holy war) experience and a strong footing in knowledge."

So he will have a fun few weeks being hunted down like an animal before being put down like the sick animal he is at the hands of superior Kafir soldiers. Here is what his future holds for him...al-Muhajer soon to be on a slab as well
