Conservatives welcome proposals on exclusions and deportations
Conservatives have backed the broad thrust of Government plans to expel foreigners who incite terrorism and religious hatred.
Shadow Home Secretary David Davis said he welcomed a short consultation period in which interested parties can comment on a list of "unacceptable behaviours" which could trigger an official exclusion or expulsion order issued by ministers.
"We welcome the broad thrust of the Government's proposals on exclusions and deportations. It is vital that the Home Secretary is able to use his powers to deport or exclude non-UK citizens who threaten our national security - we have been calling for him to use these for some time. There is no reason why they cannot be applied as soon as possible," Mr Davis declared.
He was speaking after Tony Blair staged a Downing Street press conference at which he outlined powers to extend the latest measures the Government wants to deploy in the wake of the summer wave of terrorists atrocities in London.
The Prime Minister said that while the UK can already exclude or export people who pose a threat to security, it was now necessary to clamp down on those advocating and supporting terrorism. Mr Blair said some action could be taken without new legislation, although he was also prepared to change Britain's human rights laws to make deportations more straightforward.
The planned changes include refusing asylum to anyone involved in terrorism, deporting foreigners involved in listed extremist centres and websites, closing down centres used to incite religious hatred and support terrorism, making it an offence to justify or glorify terrorism anywhere, setting a maximum time limit for extraditions to other countries, imposing longer limits on how long terror suspects can be held before being charged, introducing more control orders against British terror suspects, appointing more special judges to hear terror cases, and banning extremist organisations.
Mr Davis commented: "We will study closely the Home Secretary's list of unacceptable behaviours during what is a very short consultation period. In order that all 'unacceptable behaviours' are properly considered, it is vital that the Government ensures all relevant organisations are consulted adequately within deadline."
(At least one party in the UK wants to do something on the barbarian Islamonazi's, shame the PM's wife keeps sticking her oar in.)
Labour's shambolic immigration and asylum policy
New figures have revealed that Tony Blair was wrong to claim that it was impossible to pinpoint how many illegal immigrants are living in the UK.
The latest statistics released by the Home office indicate that between 310,000 and 570,000 foreigners reside in the country illegally, excluding asylum seekers who claims are still being processed or those who are appealing against refusal to stay.
Labour ministers claimed the figures reinforced the case for introducing ID cards; although they conflict with the Prime Minister's general election claim that it was impossible to determine specifically how many people are living here illegally.
Commenting, Shadow Home Secretary, David Davis, said: "This report shows unequivocally that the Prime Minister was wrong when he claimed it was impossible to know how many failed illegal immigrants there are in Britain."
He told conservatives.com: "The fact that there are over 500,000 illegal immigrants living in this country is a shocking indictment of the total shambles that is Labour's Immigration and Asylum policy."
Shadow Home Affairs Minister Patrick Mercer also weighed into the attack adding: "I suggest strongly that the Prime Minister has misled us for political gain in the run-up to the election."
And when you think it cant get any better:
The following are excerpts from a report about Al-Qaeda's anti-American military activities in Afghanistan. Al-Arabiya TV aired this report on August 5, 2005...
The film shows that the commander of the squad that carried out the operation is Abd Al-Hadi Al-Iraqi, who is also known as the Emir of the Arab Mujahideen in Afghanistan. He prepares a plan, using special squads from a number of countries. It is noteworthy that Al-Qaeda fighters from Britain, Ireland, France, and Pakistan, in addition to Arabs, speak in the film before the military operation.
Jihad fighter #1: [English] Oh people of the West, don't be fooled by the lies of Blair and Bush that you are free nations, for the only freedom that you have is the freedom to be slaves of your whims and desires.
Jihad fighter #2: [French] We the mujahideen swear, to all Muslims, the victims of unlimited and endless barbarism, that we will avenge their martyrs, and that we will slit the throats of the Americans and the Jews.
Jihad fighter #3: Come and join us. Join this blessed jihad. Come for the sake of Allah. Join us in this blessed jihad, with Mullah Omar and Sheik Osama bin Laden.
So, we have a traitor to the crown, a frog and a whole mix of pissed off camel shafters. Man lets just nuke em now and have done with it.
