Last week, Mr Fahy called for the legal drinking age to be raised to 21.
**After all that will work, the shopkeepers who sell to underage kids will think that is such a brilliant idea and stop selling beer and alcopops to the kids.
Far from me to tell Peter how to do his job, but if when he actually gets out to arrest a pissed up youngster he might ask who sold them the stuff in the first place. Then pop a member of his force around to have a quick word in the ear of the shopkeeper.
After all selling of beer in all its wonderful forms to people under 18 is an offense and carries a large fine. Something that maybe he should look at before calling for changes to the law, should the police enforce existing laws they would find the need for new ones would decline.
If he is not happy with the laws of the land, then resign as a policemen and stand for office as an MP. Else he would better off not dictating how he feels we should be ruled and spend his time arresting criminals.
He also feels that there should be some form of curfew for youngsters, never mind that we have a free society(well whats left of it after 10 years of New Liebour)
‘I think a lot of police officers absolutely would be in favour of a time when it’s expected that young people are actually at home indoors, and rules like there should be no drinking in public unless in areas where the local authority think is suitable for that.’
New rules are not the answer, enforcing existing laws on the sale and supply of alcohol to minors is the answer. Why bring in new rules when it is clear that the police do not enforce the existing laws? Maybe he should take a look at this case:From the Daily Mail
A young father was left in a coma after being savagely beaten by a gang of teenagers for refusing to buy alcohol for their underage friends.
Lee Harris's actions made him a "marked man", a court heard yesterday.
Months later, youths threw a brick through the 29-year-old's front window.
When he chased after them, he was punched to the ground and surrounded by a dozen teenagers who repeatedly stamped on his head.
Such was the ferocity of the beating that part of Mr Harris's scalp was hanging down over his face when paramedics arrived.
The devoted father- of- one spent a month in a coma after the horrifying attack.
Yesterday two members of the mob, Jamie Taylor, 18, and Shaun Armstrong, 17, both of Gateshead, were sentenced to 12 months in a young offenders institute after admitting causing grievous bodily harm.
They could be free in just six months.
A third teenager, Paul Naylor, 17, of Heworth, Gateshead, who prosecutors said did not play an active role in the attack, was given 100 hours' community service after pleading guilty to affray.
**Six months and a slap on the wrist, but according to Peter Fahy raising the drinking age will solve all of society's ills.
Mr Harris is still trying to rebuild his shattered life.
But last night his girlfriend launched a damning attack on the justice system on his behalf.
Debra McGuinness, 40, said: "A mob can attack an innocent family, hurl bricks through their windows then smash in a man's head with a brick and ruin his life - and get six months in prison.
"They must be laughing their heads off. All it will do is enhance their reputation.
"Then they'll be back out free to do the same to someone else in no time."
**But getting back to the dickhead Peter Fahy he also thinks that parents that allow their offspring to taste the demon drink should have them taken into the loving care of the state. After all we all know how wonderful the state is at managing things, despite lots of evidence to show that children raised by the state are more likely to resort to crime. It may be that this is a puritan streak that he has, alas he missed the boat on that one as Oliver Cromwell and co had there day a while back and the public decided that being dictated to was not what they wanted and welcomed the royals back, along with all the things banned by the puritans. This is something that petty small cock'd pen pushers in local government and New Labour stateist control types need to get through their thick collectivist heads, that we are able to run our own lives.

The question that immediately springs to mind is that if Fahy is incapable o unwilling to enforce the perfectly good existing laws why should we imagine he would do any better with draconian new ones?
Because as a statist, he believes that more regulation is the answer to all ills.
That then throws the blame off of his not arresting people and onto someone else to resolve the issue.
