Another fine example of New Labour caring for the elderly here, you need look no further than the case of the two elderly sisters from Wiltshire who have had their fight to earn the same inheritance tax rights as gay couples thrown out by the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg.
Thats right, if you are gay as Gordon Brown then all fine and dandy, yet Joyce and Sybil Burton (89 and 82) have lived together in the same home since birth.
They have paid their taxes unlike most Labour donors and many Labour
They cared for ageing parents until they died without any help from the state, had brothers who fought in the Second World War and a sister who was a nurse throughout the Blitz.
Yet when one of the sisters dies, the other will have to sell the £875,000 house and move out to pay the £50,000 tax bill.
Where is the howling of outrage from Labour MP's? Who get money from the state to both pay for and furnish their properties. Where is the MP's putting forward amendments, turning up on TV to support them?
The silence from New Labour is deafening...
As the sisters say: “If we were lesbians we would have all the rights in the world. But we are sisters, and it seems we have no rights at all.”
And that is the crux of the matter, Labour have totally lost touch with reality in all its forms. Support gays and lesbians yet our old folk can be turfed out of their homes like some farm worker of olden days who was thrown off the landowners estates with his wife and kids.
Fuck New Labour right through the heart - if you could ever find their heart -
