Multi-National Forces capture Al-Qaida terrorist brigade leader
BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Multi-National Forces captured Ammar ‘Abd-Al-Hafiz ‘Abd Muhummad (aka Ammar Amam Wakhtif or Sheik Ammar), an admitted terrorist and leader of the Nu'man Brigade, in a raid earlier in September in the Ramadi area.
Sheik Ammar oversaw and directed the day-to-day operations of the organization. He ordered numerous vehicle borne improvised explosive device and improvised explosive device bombings and other direct attacks against Iraqi Security and Coalition Forces.
Sheik Ammar took over as leader the brigade when Muhammad Daham was captured in May.
Sayf-al-Din Yahya 'Anad (aka Sheik Sayf or Abu Hamza), a Nu'man Brigade cell leader, was also captured during the raid. He was responsible for organizing and directing attacks against Iraqi Security and Coalition Forces.
“The capture of these two terrorists coupled with the more than 200 others captured or killed throughout Iraq recently demonstrates the coalition's continued progress in removing these key terrorist leaders,” said Col. Billy J. Buckner, Multi-National Corps spokesman. “We are degrading the overall effectiveness of the Al-Qaida in Iraq terror network and its ability to conduct operations in Iraq ,”
BAGHDAD , Iraq – In Tall Afar, Iraqi security forces and Coalition Forces continued operations Sept. 10 to purge the city of terrorists, detaining 41 individuals suspected of terrorist activity during a cordon and search.
Security forces also seized a mortar system with multiple rounds of ammunition and a cache consisting of hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
“Operation Restoring Rights is being conducted to remove terrorists and foreign fighters operating in Tall Afar. This operation is in support of the Iraqi government's efforts to bring safety and security to the citizens of the city,” said Col. Billy J. Buckner, spokesman for the Multi-National Corps-Iraq.
“The local government requested Coalition assistance in setting the conditions needed to establish permanent Iraqi security for the people of Tall Afar that will allow them to vote in upcoming elections,” Colonel Buckner said.
Since Aug. 26, Iraqi and Coalition Forces have captured 211 terror suspects, killed 141 terrorists and confiscated nine weapons caches.
**Looking at the media in the UK you would think that 9/11 has not happened. Hardly a word on it, the same with any news of sucesses against the terrorists in Iraq. Add to that the fact that the UK has not kicked out a single islamic preacher spouting hate against our way of life.
Other countries can, yet we seem to be fighting the war against Islamonazi terror with one hand tied behind our backs. As I said before after 7/7 all we would get would be some soundbites from this inept shower of a Govt, and that is all we have had done.
Found an article on the USA's planned response to a nuke attack by Islamonazis www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/09/10/AR2005091001053_pf.html/
BAGHDAD, Iraq - The Iraqi prime minister sealed the northern border crossing into Syria on Saturday after complaints the neighboring country was not doing enough to stop crossings by foreign fighters, and he imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew in the area near the Rabiaa frontier post. ...
The order by Prime Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari was read on Iraqi television by Interior Minister Bayan Jabr. The decree closed the border to all transportation, including the railroad, except for vehicles with special permission from the Interior Ministry.
Iraq and the United States have complained bitterly that Syria has done too little to block the flow of so-called foreign fighters into Iraq across the long and porous border.
TAL AFAR, Iraq - U.S. and Iraqi troops swept into the insurgent stronghold of Tal Afar early Saturday, conducting house-to-house searches and battering down walls with armored vehicles in a second bid to clean the city of militant fighters.
Some 30 miles south of Baghdad, meanwhile, police found the bodies of 18 men who had been handcuffed and shot to death in Iskandariya, a town where dozens of killings have been reported in escalating vengeance killings by Shiite Muslim and Sunni Aram "death squads."
"Two days ago gunmen in police uniforms broke into their houses in a Shiite neighborhood of Iskandariya," police Capt. Adel Kitab said of the latest victims. ...
In the Tal Afar offensive, which had been expected for weeks, coalition forces faced several hundred lightly armed insurgents in the largely deserted city, 260 miles northwest of Baghdad and about 60 miles east of the Syrian border.
There was heavy gunfire in the Sarai district, the oldest part of the city and the major insurgent stronghold.
"I can see why the terrorists chose this place for a fight, it's like a big funnel of death," Sgt. William Haslett of Rocklin, Calif., said of the twisting streets and alleys in the old city.
DEMOCRACY TAKES ROOT: Democracy is spreading - from the ground up, as it should: "In the province of Dhi Qar, about 230 miles southeast of Baghdad and a backwater even by Iraq's standards, residents voting as families will have elected city councils in 16 of the 20 biggest cities by next month."
And in Baghdad, "American authorities created nine district councils... with representatives sent by 88 neighborhood advisory councils. The district councils, in turn, sent representatives to the Baghdad City Advisory Council to work with the American administration." "Every day the evidence is a little stronger that the council members understand the benefits of this system, and we even see signs out in the community of it catching on."
Meanwhile, a Western PR firm, with Arab partners, tackles the world's toughest ad campaign - selling democracy to Iraqis accustomed to life under a dictatorship.
** Well enough of that, heres a nice pic to cheer things up a bit:

3 people have spoken:
In the photo of the rubble why are there no beams standing upright ao fallen over? The official story is the weight of the falling floors broke the fastenings to the uprights so they should be intact. They should be standing upright or fallen over. Where did they go? I only see short up rights not 80 floors of them.
Does it matter?
Rather disputable.
