NEW YORK - A group of former hostages from the U.S. embassy in Tehran reaffirmed today there was "no doubt" that the lead interrogator during their ordeal was the current president of Iran.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has denied he personally took part in the hostage-taking, addressed the United Nations General Assembly in New York today for five minutes, despite a finding by the U.S. Department of State that he was a "terrorist" and was ineligible for a visa.
The entire U.S. delegation, led by Ambassador John Bolton, walked out of the General Assembly in protest when Ahmadinejad took the podium.
Before he spoke, the former hostages and their supporters held a vigil in front of the Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran at 3rd avenue and 40th street.
"For twenty-six years, the government of Iran has not been held accountable for their violation of international law," said Kevin Hermening, who at 21 was a freshly-arrived Marine guard at the Embassy and the youngest hostage. "Despite our political differences as individuals, we all agree as a group that it is time to seek remedy. Ahmadinejad and his government need to be treated as a pariah."
And if the free world doesnt stand firm on this arseholes plans to get nukes, we will pay a heavy price. See the photo below for a before and after look at the Iranian leader.
Here are a few words from the tolerant and peace loving leader of Iran:
Addressing the United Nations General Assembly, Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said his country had "the inalienable right to produce nuclear fuel" and accused the United States of violating global nuclear treaties.
"Those who armed the Zionist occupation are trying to prevent other countries from being armed with peaceful technology. There are a few sides who are using threats, and their power to abuse others – with the help of their control of the press," said Ahmadinejad.
During his speech, the Iranian president said that "those who armed the Zionist occupation are trying to prevent other countries from being armed with peaceful technology.
** Well there you have it, Zionist occupation and the old "I want them toys too" arguement. As for peaceful technology, yeah whatever. A months wages says the first thing this guy will do is point his "peaceful" nukes at Israel. Hell lets here some more bits on love and tolerance from his UN speech:
Returning to his verbal attack on Israel, Ahmadinejad said, "When the people of Palestine resist the occupation they are accused of terror, while the oppressors are supported, the ones claiming that they are fighting terror. The land of Palestine should be liberated and a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital should be established," said the Iranian president.
He defended his country's nuclear policy, and didn't forget to attack the 'Zionists' here too, saying, "all nations should be allowed to have nuclear fuel. Iran has a right to a nuclear program. A committee should investigate how nuclear means were obtained by the Zionist regime." ...
He added that Iran planned to "guard its rights."
