Ok now I recently changed jobs again - about 3 weeks ago now - and the place where I was working before I was stuck with a frog as a boss. (Now I blame the EU on that one, but I am getting off the point here...)
As someone who has clashed with them on occasions before I figured I had best give her a chance and thought that as she was outside of France would appreciate our tolerant ways in the UK, especially with regard to free expression of views.
Now the first run in came when I made a joke about how bad the fuel protests were in the UK. Especially when I pointed out how the French have protests off to a fine art. You want something, then lets blockade Paris and hijack a few meat wagons from the UK and burn the lamb on board whilst the French police stand around looking elsewhere.
One of my better comments was on the French elections a few years back where they had the choice between a crook and nazi and they chose the wrong one....She liked Le Worm the galic version of Tony Blair.
Once the frog realised that trying to browbeat me with the fact that she was the boss and did not like my comments - tough shit is my view on that - was not going to work, she then moved onto trying to pick faults in my work....she failed.
Not only did I process more than most my team, but I was in early, stayed on and worked damn hard for the poor pay in that place. Desperate the frog then tried the old snide remark routine on the few occasions that she thought I had made a mistake, so I resolved that by taking notes and pointing out - quite loudly I might add - that I appreciated her concern over my work on this occasion and it is strange how she only seems to point out my mistakes on the rare occasions they happen and that I would keep a record of her comments for future reference... that would be brought up with the proper managers... (Let them know they are being a wanker and when it hits the fan you have a full record of all events)
Finally I was offered the job I have now, in a tolerant company with no frogs in it, and on more money. So before I left I spent my last month making constant remarks about the waste in the EU on lazy French farmers claiming for non existant crops, the double standards of French politicians and so on and so forth.
Yes on the last day just before leaving I took great satisfaction in pointing out my distaste at having to work with her for the last few months, her two faced attitude, and how she was a stereotype of how her nation was portrayed.
** I suppose I have done my bit for the Entente Cordiale...

Every opportunity to break down a piece of the French fascade is a good one. Good on you, and I'm sure you're enjoying your new job more!
Indeed and the best part about this, is that I have her e-mail address and have mailed her this article.
Viv La France and all that!
Great post. It had me laughing.
