** So Lord Goldsmith has been bleating on tv about how Guantanamo has to be closed, claiming that it breaches the international laws on human rights. Now I have to wonder if flying planes into buildings full of civilians would be a breach of their human rights or do the deaths of nearly 3000 Americans not count? Oh and add to that Beslan, London, Madrid and many other places where the terrorists violate all our human rights.
Now last time I looked the right to life and freedom without terror was a part of those human rights. Unless of course we are talking about some rose tinted Lord Goldsmith view of human rights.
Now lets take another part of his statement where he said: "America's idea of what is torture is not the same as ours and does not appear to coincide with that of most civilised nations." - Maybe Lord Goldsmith should take a look at the systematic torture that happens across vast tracts of this planet across many other nations and often just for belonging to the wrong clan/ethnic group or religion. Yet despite all the mountains of evidence against many of those nations he has that typical lefty bile and hatred of all things American and so has to use his high office to snipe and spit at his betters.
In a speech in London, he said the camp had become a symbol of injustice and its existence was "unacceptable". Well thats his view but not mine and not the view of anyone who saw what terrorists did when given a free run on 9/11 and also in our own city of London on July 7th. Ask me having our buses blown apart is what I class as unacceptable.
But like the coward he is Goldsmith carried on bleating away about justice and rights and forgetting the most important right of them all, the right to live free - something that the people in Guantanamo want to take away from us by any means they can. In fact check this nugget out from the weasel mouth of Lord Goldsmith "It is time, in my view, that it should close. Not only would it, in my personal opinion, be right to close Guantanamo as a matter of principle, I believe it would also help to remove what has become a symbol to many - right or wrong - of injustice.
"The historic tradition of the United States as a beacon of freedom, liberty and of justice deserves the removal of this symbol." So what he is saying is that the US would be better off without that camp and maybe he secretly thinks that New York is better off without the trade towers? So what is Goldsmiths plan on holding the hardened terrorists of Al Quada currently locked up in Cuba, or has he not thought that far ahead? Maybe we could take them in like we took in the Tipton Taliban filth a few years back.
The more I read the weasel words of Lord Goldsmith the more I can smell the rancid stench of the New Labour left, appealing to the left wing who hate all the US stands for yet covered up with fancy wording about liberty and justice.
You may go on about how tasty it is, but a shit sandwich is still a shit sandwich at the end of the day. And Lord Goldsmith you can take that sandwich away as I for one do not wish to taste it.
