The ground force returned fire and confirmed the killing of one. The other terrorist suspect was detained without incident after the troops secured the area. The raid’s targeted individual was linked to a foreign fighter facilitator who was killed along with two other terrorists June 12 during a Coalition raid northeast of Al Amiriyah. Credible intelligence also connected the targeted individual to a Saudi Arabian al-Qaeda in Iraq terrorist killed in a Coalition raid near Iskandariyah June 28. This foreign fighter had extensive dealings in helping finance terrorist activities to include vehicle borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) attacks.
