What Use Is the U.N?

Today with the war in the Lebanon going on, with no sign of the Israeli soldiers being freed any time soon by the terrorists in the Lebanon what do we get from the United Nations?

Top thief at the UN Koffing Anus, sorry Kofi Anan bleated on about a ceasefire and some form of agreement without actually saying anything. Yet one thing was missing from is speech and that was any mention of U.N. Security Council Resolution 1559. A resolution that also called on Lebanese militias to disband, a resolution that a certain Mr Anan was all in favour of only two years ago.

It says quite a lot about the poor state of the U.N. that they can forget resolutions that have been passed a within 2 years. That they lack both the will or the ability to actually do anything to enforce that resolution, that so far the only thing they have done is to attack the state of Israel which has been trying enforce that very resolution on the part of the inept U.N.

And not just the U.N. seems to be losing the plot as far as the middle east is concerned, today we had the Lib Dems here in the UN making comments about revoking export licences for weapons to the state of Israel, not that they will ever be in a position of power to bring in that strange moonbat policy.

Indeed getting back to a certain forgotten U.N. resolution, Kofi Anan stated on Oct 7th 2004 the following:
"It is time, 14 years after the end of hostilities and four years after the Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon, for all parties concerned to set aside the remaining vestiges of the past. The withdrawal of foreign forces and the disbandment and disarmament of militias would, with finality, end that sad chapter of Lebanese history."

U.N. Security Council Resolution 1559 was a resolution sponsored by France and the United States and adopted on September 2, 2004. It called upon Syria to end its military presence in Lebanon by withdrawing its forces and to cease intervening in internal Lebanese politics. The resolution also called on all Lebanese militias (including Hezbollah) to disband,
