9th Iraqi Army Division Leads Operation in Baghdad By Multi-National Division – Baghdad Public Affairs
BAGHDAD – The 9th Iraqi Army Division, with Coalition support, commenced an operation within the Iraqi capital this morning in Rusafa aimed at capturing and denying a safe haven to terrorist forces responsible for planning and executing violence against the Iraqi people.
The targets of these raids are believed to be regularly killing innocent Iraqis and have an active campaign designed to disrupt the peace and stability of the region. Iraqi Security Forces and Coalition Forces are dedicated to eradicating the terrorist threat and establishing a lasting peace within the Iraqi capital and the region.
Additional information on the results of the operation will be released as it becomes available.

TWO TERRORISTS KILLED, 27 SUSPECTED TERRORISTS DETAINED
BAGHDAD, Iraq – Coalition Forces killed two terrorists and detained 27 suspected terrorists in multiple raids Friday targeting al-Qaida terrorists throughout the region.
During a raid in the Taji area, Coalition Forces assaulted the target area and engaged enemy forces, killing one terrorist and wounding a female local national who was being used as human shield by the terrorist. The female was treated on site and immediately transported by Coalition aircraft to a nearby military hospital where she is in stable condition. Ground forces also detained 14 suspected terrorists at the raid including a known foreign fighter facilitator.
In Yusufiyah, ground forces were searching a foreign fighter safe house when they encountered an armed terrorist. The terrorist was killed while resisting capture. The search of the area revealed a weapons cache consisting of multiple machine guns, ammunition, fuses and rocket-propelled grenade rounds. The weapons cache was destroyed on site.
Coalition Forces also detained one Vehicle borne improvised explosive device cell leader and eight suspected terrorists in a Baghdad raid. These terrorists were conducting of a meeting when Coalition Forces swept in and captured the cell leader and his associates. Upon a thorough search of the target, Coalition Forces discovered numerous small arms weapons and one vehicle prepared with explosives.
Two other raids netted four more detainees during operations in the Tarmiya area.
Terrorists continue to deliberately place innocent Iraqi women and children in danger by their actions and presence.
These and other foreign terrorist facilitators are killing innocent Iraqis daily and preventing the peace and stability Iraqi citizens deserve.

BAQUBAH, Iraq – A combined Iraqi Army and Coalition Force offensive operation detained dozens of suspected terrorists and rescued a 16 year-old kidnapping victim today in Baqubah.
During the operation, soldiers from the 2nd Brigade, 5th Iraqi Army, with support from the 1-12 Combined Arms Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, searched 124 houses, detained 44 suspected terrorists, discovered three IEDs, killed three anti-Iraqi forces and freed one kidnapping victim who had been kidnapped 25 days ago and was being held for ransom.
“This operation is a significant event for the people of Baqubah,” said Col. David W. Sutherland, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, commander and senior U.S. Army officer in the Diyala province. “Because of their efforts, the Iraqi Security Forces were able to target specific suspects responsible for disrupting the peace of every day life in Baqubah. This is a vital step toward allowing the Iraqi forces to uphold the rule of law throughout the province,” he said.
The detainees were transferred to Forward Operating Base Gabe, and the IEDs were control detonated by an explosive ordinance disposal unit.
During the operation, two Iraqi Army soldiers were wounded. The soldiers were medically evacuated to FOB Warhorse, and one of the two soldiers was then evacuated by air to Logistics Support Area Anaconda for further treatment. Both are in stable condition.
While conducting the mission, soldiers from 2/5 IA spoke to the town’s citizens about the importance of their security and stability, while other soldiers delivered blankets and other humanitarian supplies to homes throughout Baqubah.
“Through their actions today, it is clear that the Iraqi Security Forces are focused on helping maintain security and stability for the people of Baqubah and the Diyala province,” Sutherland said.

BAGHDAD – 5th Iraqi Army Division forces, with Coalition advisers, captured a suspected insurgent leader during a raid Friday near Baqubah, targeting Al Qaeda in Iraq linked insurgents in Diyala Province.
The detainee is suspected of leading and financing insurgents operating and conducting attacks against Iraqi civilians, Iraqi Security Force and Coalition Force in Baqubah and throughout Diyala Province.
While searching for additional insurgents at the objective, the Iraqi Force found an insurgent armed with an assault rifle.
There was minimum damage done to the objective and there were no other Iraqi civilian, Iraqi forces or Coalition forces casualties.
BAGHDAD – Soldiers from 7th Iraqi Army Division, with Coalition advisers, captured a member of an insurgent cell Dec. 2 in Ta’meem, south of Ramadi, who is believed to be responsible for coordinating and conducting multiple small arms and rocket attacks against Iraqi Security Forces.
The terrorist cell is also allegedly responsible for producing and placing improvised explosive devices that injure and kill Iraqi civilians and Iraqi Security Force. The cell is linked to Al Qaeda in Iraq.
There was minimal damage done to the objective and there were no Iraqi civilian, Iraqi Force or Coalition Force casualties during the operation.
FORWARD OPERATING BASE LOYALTY, Iraq – In a joint effort, the Iraqi Army supported by the 3rd Battalion, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Brigade Combat Team, captured a weapons cache and detained 12 terrorist suspects Dec. 1 in Narwahan.
The Soldiers were conducting a dismounted patrol to gain intelligence when they received a tip by a local resident regarding the cache.
They discovered a weapons cache which included 10 AK-47 assault rifles, two machine guns, two mortar tubes including 70 60mm rounds, one illumination round, five cases of 12.7mm ammunition and 61 explosive primers.
KALSU, Iraq – Paratroopers from the Apache Troop, 1st Squadron, 40th Cavalry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division found ammunition and materials used in constructing improvised explosive device in a house near Hawr Rajab Dec. 1.
The cache discovery came as part of Operation Artic Sunrise. The paratroopers found two weapons, ammunition, mortar and artillery ammunition fuses, ski masks and blasting caps. Part of the cache was found immediately outside the home.
The weapons and munitions were destroyed in place by an explosive ordnance disposal team.

BAGHDAD – Special Iraqi Army Forces, with Coalition advisors, conducted operations Nov. 30 in Baghdad to capture a person suspected of involvement in kidnapping and murder activities within Baghdad and directing attacks against the Coalition Force.
The Iraqi Force entered a mosque while searching for the suspect. In the mosque, they found two rocket propelled grenade launchers, two RPG rounds and a fused improvised explosive device mortar round. The Coalition Force entered the mosque only to recover the IED and weapons.
During the raid, there was an exchange of small arms fire with enemy elements south of the mosque compound. The Iraqi Force returned fire against an identified threat, resulting in the death of one enemy fighter.
Minimal damage was sustained to the mosque. There were no Iraqi civilian, Iraqi Force or Coalition Force casualties.

BAGHDAD – Special Iraqi Police forces, with Coalition advisors, captured two suspected terrorists during a raid Nov. 30 in the Latifiyah area south of Baghdad. The individuals are believed to belong to a cell that is responsible for kidnappings, murders and improvised explosive device attacks against Iraqi civilians and the Iraqi Security Force in the northern Babil Province.
Ministry of Interior arrest warrants had been issued for the suspected terrorists. One additional suspect was detained by Iraqi forces during the raid.
Operations on the objective caused minimal damage and there were no Iraqi civilian, Iraqi Force or Coalition Force casualties.

The first cache was discovered in the town of Bahbahani, Iraq, outside of
Musayyib. It contained 15 rockets, 30 mortar fuses, one sniper rifle, 15 rocket-propelled
grenades, one rocket propelled-grenade launcher, one tripod, one mortar tube, and two
60mm mortar rounds.

The second cache was discovered north of Karbala. It contained two mortar
fuses, two mortar charges, one machine gun with one belt of ammo, one sub-machine

The third cache was uncovered south of Baghdad and contained 100 mortar
rounds.

Yeah its known for a while that Saddam supported terrorism, offering money to mad jihadists who blow themselves up in Israel so the fact he is tied to other groups dont suprise me none.
