The BBC - Once a great news organisation respected across the world for a fair view, now little more than a holdout for leftists, socialists and Guardian reading media studies types.
Take this interview that the BBC ran with former Navy chief Admiral Sir Alan West, who also got cash after telling a newspaper that paying hostages was “sick”. Last night Stewart — who led British troops in Bosnia — tried to backtrack, saying of Faye: “I hope she wins out of it.”
And Sir Alan, 58 — who said making money from the media was “tacky” — admitted: “I just have my pension.“I don’t see why I shouldn't earn more money.” SAS hero Andy McNab said: “They are total hypocrites.“I wonder if they’ll give some of their fees to charity, like Faye?”
The BBC are happy for him to sit there after taking money off of them - or more correctly the UK taxpayers - and use the word "sick" with regard to there getting paid, in short act as little more than a pr man for the mad mullahs in Iran, yet it turns out that he has been paid for giving an interview. Paid by the BBC in fact.
So lets see how the BBC view this, they the BBC are quite happy to lambaste serving army people over being paid money, all of course as part of a "wider story" and use someone who can help keep their hands clean in the process, a man who has already received his 30 pieces of silver for an interview, thanks to the UK taxpayers who fund the BBC.
Oh and of course the BBC are getting viewers and feeding off this story just like the rest of the media, just as guilty as the rest when it comes to "public interest." and if they can score a few points with regards running down the UK and our armed forces then all well and good. Forget the honesty in mentioning that he has been paid, not that the BBC would do that.
Still that's the dire state of our state broadcaster, the worst part of this is that was have to pay a tv licence in order to support these odious little people.
Story as reported in The Sun: http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2007160381,00.html
Then we have the drama commissioned by the BBC about how Private Johnson Beharry won his Victoria Cross in Iraq was cancelled as being "too positive", according to the Telegraph.
Of course had he been a minority black soldier on the run from the army over serving in Iraq or it had been some social commentry on how bad the black society is treated in the UK, one has to ask if the BBC would have cancelled the program for being "too negative?"
All quite strange as the BBC does like to state in its advertising that it is a multicultural organisation and reaches out to all parts of society.
This I feel is a missed opportunity on the part of the BBC, not only would they get the chance to cover the story of this man winning a VC, not an event that happens everyday. But they also miss out on the chance of showing a positive black role model, a positive role for the army and it is a shame that they can not see past their own bias with regard to a war they class as political.
From the Biased BBC site, remember The Falklands Play?
On a different note I have noticed that the Government seems to be on form with regards all this, well following the usual routine of making a total Laurel & Hardy style mess of it that is. First off we get the ok from Des Browne with regards to selling of stories to the media, then the backlash from some parts of the media with regards that they missed out on said stories and did not like the other papers getting the scoop.
It was also lost on Des that people who are in Iraq and elsewhere, who are getting shot at and on occasions killed, may just find that the government saying its okay to hawk stories off to the media as highly offensive to those on active duty and their families. Mind you hawking off to the highest bidder is something the government does a lot of, so it comes as no surprise our Des takes that attitude.
So then Des does what ministers do what flack comes in thick and fast, he backtracks and stops them from talking for money and chatting away to the media. Only problem is that two of the former hostages of the mad mullahs have now already given interviews. As Homer would say DOH!
The man really is a prat of the first order, and if you would like to contact him well he (or rather some underling) can be contacted on: browned@parliament.uk
Here is a bit on one of the interviews: http://peterhitchens.blogspot.com/2007/04/fat-munter-cashes-in-what-fucking.html
A little tune on the license tax.

Time to bring the BBC to heel. Not only is it a boring propagandist for the left-liberal view of life, it sticks its hand into everyone's pocket each year to raise enough cash to preserve its smug detachment from commercial reality. (Oh, and its enforcement arm brings 120,000 criminal prosecutions annually, or roughly 10% of all prosecutorial activity in a typical year. Detail here if any interest.)
Why not privatize it?
