Just got the news that Kurt Vonnegut has died, the author of “Sirens Of Titan”, “Slaughterhouse Five”, “Breakfast Of Champions”, “Cat’s Cradle” and loads more.
I have enjoyed Kurt Vonnegut’s books since, well since I was first able to pick a book up. Politically he was as liberal as they get a cynical anti-war lefty. But politics aside damn his books were good.
Of course the best work was for me his 1969 novel “Slaughterhouse Five”. The book is a semi-fictional recounting of the bombing of Dresden in World War 2
Something he saw as a prisoner of war being held in that city. 30,000 died and Vonnegut and other surviving POW’s were given the grim task of piling the bodies in heaps for mass cremations.
A great writer and the world is a poorer place without him in it. RIP

Vonnegut was a true visionary and humorist and a great writer.
Even immortality is fleeting and lasts only as long as memory remains in succeeding generations. I think Kurt Vonneguts memory will last a long, long time.
