The COI, the UK government’s communications agency, is working on a way to monitor what people say about this worthless shower of a government, on blogs, forums and the like so that they can arrange "media briefings" - see New Labour wankspeak for spin - it sends to ministers. Financial Times
The blog project was in part prompted by departments’ concerns at being caught unawares by debates spread on the web.
Maybe they will realise how out of touch many of them are with the people of the UK, but what is more likely is a need to monitor, spin the news and put some more bodies on the governments ever expanding public payroll.
Mind it did put the image of some public official giving the a minister a briefing and saying something like "Well minister it's not good news, most of the UK public think you are a total lying cunt of the first order." - that would be one of the good things if the politico's actually saw that we did not buy the shit they continually feed us, although the likelihood of that happening is somewhere between zero and zero.

True but think of the fun, all we need is say about fifty or so blogs to call a certain cabinet minister a cunt and I am sure that the news will get back to them.
