The name that was repeated many times was Lord Ashcroft. His activities are scandalous and come close to election cheating. He personally interviews candidates and selects the most mindless, raw meat-eating Tory loons and supports them as candidates.

He ploughs cash into the vulnerable constituencies in order to buy votes. Legally spending £4,000 or £8,000 make little difference to the result in an individual constituency. Lavishing £150,000 or £200,000 swung enough votes to change the result in a good 20 constituencies in 2005. It’s legal because the cask is spent before the three week campaign begins. It’s votes for cash.

The unelected Lords blocked Labour’s attempt at closing this loophole recently. It’s corrupts our democratic process as ex-MP Peter Bradley proved in a devastating pamphlet.

Part of the push for an early General election was to block Ashcroft’s spending. Now there is time to enact the crucial reform.

**Strange how he forgets his own libel case and has the nerve to talk of honesty and fair representation. Oh have you forgoten about your libel case that your New Labour hacks removed from your Wikipedia site and I replaced tonight? Have you the guts to leave that in place or like the lying socialist you are will you attempt to cover it up again(through a third party as to allow yourself deniability)

In the High Court today (8th November 2005) Paul Flynn MP for Newport West, through his solicitor, apologised unreservedly for the damage caused by allegations he made against Endowment Justice and its Directors.He also agreed to place an apology on the home page of his website and has agreed not to repeat again the same or similar allegations. He will pay damages of £1000, which Endowment Justice has donated to the NSPCC, and costs of £35,450. In February of this year Paul Flynn made certain statements about companies providing professional services in relation to endowment policy compensation claims. Despite having spoken to Endowment Justice he linked these libellous allegations to them. He then repeated the same allegations to a journalist from Money Marketing which published his statements in an article. Paul Flynn now accepts that these allegations concerning Endowment Justice are completely false. Marianne Fitzjohn, Director of Endowment Justice commented: "This whole case has been extremely stressful for all of us at Endowment Justice. We set up Endowment Justice to be a champion for people who were getting short shrift from the financial institutions when they have legitimate claims for endowment mis-selling."We believe that we have been in the vanguard in trying to ensure that financial institutions behave properly and stop misleading their own clients. We have been in regular contact with the FSA and the FOS concerning the behaviour of both the larger financial institutions and the IFAs who inappropriately sold these endowment policies."We have also repeatedly called for the endowment claims companies to be regulated as we recognise that there are examples of bad practice. Endowment claimants should be very discriminating in choosing a company, which can help them in making their claim."We repeatedly asked Paul Flynn to apologise and withdraw his comments. Even when we went to law he still simply refused to respond. We reluctantly brought this action to vindicate our reputation, because our reputation and integrity are of paramount important to us and integral to how we run our business."We are delighted that the whole matter is now over and are very pleased that it was a term of the settlement that a contribution would be made to charity. The damages will be paid to the NSPCC."

On another point: A judge has ruled that Al Gore's climate change propaganda movie, An Inconvenient Truth, is hysterical and inaccurate. But he wouldn't issue an order preventing it being shown in British schools.

Friends of the Earth admit there are nine factual errors, but say that doesn't matter - lies are allowed in pursuit of their quasi-religous crusade. Maybe they should change their name to Enemies of the Truth.

It should only be shown in schools if it's balanced by Martin Durkin's The Great Global Warming Swindle, which outs the scientific case against man-made global warming. Gore's film is not so much an inconvenient truth as A Convenient Lie.

On an Early Day Motion:Channel Four and Science That this House scorns the junk science of Channel Four’s “Great Global Warming Swindle”, which presented previously discredited claims as facts; notes that the work of Dr Eigil Friis-Christenson has been repeatedly exposed as mistaken and incompetent and that the oceanographer Carl Wunsh has confirmed that the programme misrepresented his views: calls on Channel Four to apologise for misleading their viewers and urges them to act responsibly in future by presenting issues of prime importance in a balanced scientific manner which allow listeners to reach an intelligent judgement.

We have to ask, will proven liar MP Paul Flynn issue an apology to Channel 4 now that Al Gore has been debunked by a high court case?
