Hicks, wearing a green polo shirt and jeans, was to be driven to a secret location in Adelaide where he will start his life out of custody.Australia's very own Tipton Taliban, a former inmate of Club Gitmo this chap is out and ready to play jihad again in Australia. But some in power foolishly think he should not be subject to a control order: David Hicks, jihad johnny on the loose. The father of two has completed a jail sentence, after pleading guilty before a US military commission in March this year to a charge of providing material support for terrorism.
A small crowd of mostly elderly supporters were outside the prison as Hicks left, many holding banners reading 'This could have been your son' and 'David Hicks is no threat'.
The supporters surrounded the car in which Terry Hicks and lawyer David McLeod left the prison, cheering as the car left the prison grounds...
It had been reported that David Hicks would include an apology to the nation in his statement, but after expressing gratitude to the public and the media for their support, no apology was offered.
Terry Hicks told reporters he didn't feel that David owed Australia an apology. He said he had spent five-and-a-half years doing it "pretty tough".
An no apology from Hicks either, no sign that prison has reformed him, that he sees the error of his ways...
The 32-year-old father of two, who has spoken with Osama bin Laden, is a free man for the first time in six years after he walked out of a high-security Adelaide jail this morning.
He spent more than five years in detention at Guantanamo Bay before being transferred to Yatala Prison earlier this year.
Oh a letter to Mr Hicks
The article reads: I address this to Terry Hicks father of Muhammad Dawood, and their faithfull followers. On the morning of September 11, 2001, in the north tower of the World Trade Centre in New York, my friend and his co-workers were given the choice of jumping to their deaths on the concrete pavement below or burning alive.
Your son Muhammad, Mr Hicks, also had a choice and it was not John Howard or George Bush who told him to go and do what he did.
Your pain and the (alleged) pain of the anti-American brigade has only lasted five years. Ours will last a lifetime.
It would be nice Mr Hicks, when Muhammad rejoins you at your dinner table to say a prayer for those who were not given any choice to live.
And while you are at it, Mr Hicks, maybe you could ask Muhammad exactly what he had to do to prove his loyalty to a race of people so determined to wipe us off the face of the planet as I'm sure they wouldn't take any Australian boy without proving his loyalty to their "cause".
Neither you nor your son Muhammad have anything to be proud of, Mr Hicks. As for the politically correct brigade, they have had nothing to be proud of for decades.

2 people have spoken:
IMHO he should have been shot and his carcass thrown to the vultures, but that's just me. To top it all off, he'll be waffled onto the welfare rolls soon, we'll be funding the rest of his worthless life.
Living off of the infidel, not quite the same as a proper jihad but a form of struggle none the less.
Lets just hope he meets with a sad and tragic accident one fine day.
