Ex-police boss arrested in indecency probe
Tuesday, December 04, 2007
A Labour Party councillor has been arrested in Belfast on suspicion of gross indecency and other offences.
Steven Bayes, a city councillor in Hull, was detained yesterday at a hotel room in the city centre.
The 45-year-old, who is also a former chairman of the Humberside Police Authority, had apparently been under surveillance.
Details of his alleged offences have not been disclosed.
Mr Bayes is hoping to become Labour candidate for Hull East at the next election when the party's former deputy leader, John Prescott, steps down.
Humberside Police later searched the Labour Party offices and lounge at Hull's Guildhall as part of the investigation.
**Bloody hellski, if they are not fiddling the expenses then they are a tad too active in the trouser department. Maybe we should neuter all politico's for the public good?
