Labour to nationise corpses.

My body belongs to me, not the government. I carry a donor card as is my choice.

By "presumed consent" one can but assume that they mean "presumed ownership" - Brown states that people will have the choice to opt out rather than opt in as at present. Considering the piss poor record keeping by the government and the inability of government and its agencies to keep our records safe and secure it is likely that the new opt out system will be a complete mess.

One can easily imagine the body of someone who has opted out being used due to some clerk losing records.

Previous Heath Sec. John Reid stated"The answer is simple. It is because the decision about one's own body should be for the conscience of individual citizens. It is not for this Parliament, by free vote or otherwise, to impose on individuals a requisition of their bodies after death for the use of the state. That is why there is no free vote. We are giving the freedom of conscience to the people of this country, and we are not prepared to work on the assumption that Parliament should dictate to them that their bodies belong to the state after death.(Hansard, 28 June 2004: Col 77)."

So here is a quick message to the unelected one eye'd cunt, should you bring this in I shall be opting out. Quite simply I resent the idea that my body belongs to the state.

And so maybe this is how New Labours minions will collect on our bits....

As much as i'd encourage people to donate their organs in the hope it might prolong some one else's life, i'm with you on this Fido. Keep it at Opt-in, who is to say the state won't suddenly start deciding to send you over the edge because some doctor thinks their already stretched resources are better served on someone else than you.

I've a good mind to rip up my doner card - I've had enough of this government and their dodgy donations!
