Konnie Huq - Carrying the torch for China.

Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq will carry the Olympic torch through London next Sunday.

The Ealing born star defended her decision:

After much consideration, I have decided to take part in this ceremony because I am committed to the Olympic ideals which reach out to people across the globe.

Unless they live in Tibet or other places oppressed by dictators. She attempted to salve her conscience with this:
"My participation does not in any way indicate support for the harsh and oppressive manner in which the Chinese regime continues to treat the people of Tibet and which I find despicable."
Well sorry but it does. You are waving the flag, well torch in this point for the Chinese dictatorship. It is rather strange how the glare of free publicity can make so many people from our politicians to Konnie cast aside morals and all thoughts of Tibetans being tortured in Chinese jail cells.

She carried on in much the same way with this comment:
"I am also carrying the torch for London 2012, which I believe will be an event which will enhance the lives of everyone in the capital as well as encapsulating all the true Olympian values."
Oh please don't attempt to compare the two. There is a world of difference between our nation and the actions of China.

She is under the illusion that she can smile sweetly at the cameras without some of the shit sticking to her, well she is wrong. The blood of Tibetans is on her hands just as it is on the hands of the Chinese government.

Still Konnie is the latest in a long line of apologists, appeasers and people who think that they can't really make a difference so they might as well support an appalling system.

No doubt she will argue that if not me then someone else, well she might and that is still an argument that holds no water with me. Unlike the Tibetan protesters who maybe getting waterboarded as we speak...

China's ambassador to Britain Fu Ying told the BBC:
"There's a lot more awareness about the influence of politics and there are better means for solving political problems, but you don't solve them on the football ground, you don't solve them in the swimming pool,"
Talking of solving them on the football field...
Well Konnie will go down in history, much the same way that the England squad did in Germany on the 14th May 1938. When captain Eddie Hapgood and team issued a nazi salute to the crowd at the pre-match ceremoies.

Next week Konnie shows us how to make an electrical shock rod(Chinese govt approved) from some toilet roll tubes, some wire and sticky back plastic....

So Konnie to paraphrase Capt Jean-Luc Picard: "Fuck off and make it so."

Commons Speaker Michael "pig nose" Martin - £700,000 on his home improvements

Whilst the rest of us have to pay for home improvements ourselves, spare a thought for poor Mr Martin who has the taxpayers of the land pay for all his home improvements. After all as we all know money just grows on magic money trees and the taxpayers will be more than happy to afford Mr Martin a few essential improvements to his humble abode.

Indeed in the last week, the House of Commons Commission - which the Speaker chairs - has faced criticism from MPs for launching a High Court appeal against the release of a detailed breakdown of MPs' second home claims.

More than £100,000 a year has been spent on average on items including furniture, art and air conditioning for the Grade 1-listed apartments.

Shame that they could not send some of that money towards providing decent kit for our troops fighting the wars that this Labour government started. Far easier to give Mr Martin a plush home and let humble troopers pay for their own equipment.

Then when they die from avoidable accidents our part time Defense Sec. Des Brown(with an e) can try to censor coroners who criticize the govt.

Truly the phrase champaign socialists has never been more apt for this amoral, corrupt, sleaze ridden government.

Roll on election day when we will finally throw them out on their collective arses......

Sir John Hawkins - can not have a pub named after him.

Found this little gem in the Daily Mail, shows the power of the unelected left wing scum who take it upon themselves to dictate who we can remember and fire off accusations of rascism at all who disagree with them.

Best part of it is that as a tax payer my money is used to fund the Racial Equality Council who strangely enough can never ever see racism against white people.

It is all a question of historical perspective.

To the pub owners who have renamed their hostelry in his honour, Sir John Hawkins is a hero.

But to the Racial Equality Council, which has its offices just a few doors from the pub, he is a symbol of cruelty to his fellow man for his role in the slave trade.

The christening of the Hawkins Meeting House close to Sir John's birthplace in Plymouth has left the neighbouring parties at loggerheads, with the landlord forced to deny allegations that racism inspired his choice.

The race group's outrage is focused on the fact that Hawkins was the first Englishman to trade slaves, capturing and selling more than 1,200 African men.

They say the use of his name for a pub is "offensive".

"It's very unfortunate that the pub has chosen to celebrate someone who had a history of being very involved with the transatlantic slave trade," said a spokesman.

"It will cause offence to anyone who understands the horrors of slavery. It's an entirely inappropriate tribute. He is not someone Plymouth should be proud of."

But landlord Leroy Lander, who took over the lease of the pub only three weeks ago, takes a different view on the 16th century figure, who was knighted for his exploits against the Spanish Armada and set up a charity for sick and elderly mariners.

Hawkins is also credited with introducing the potato to England.

**Worthy of a pub being named after him for that alone!

"I did consider the implications of naming my pub after a famous slaver, but Sir John Hawkins is actually a very historical and important figure," said Mr Lander, 44.

"He's a real British hero with a dark past, but slavery is just a part of human history which every nation was responsible for. We have to ignore that and look at the good things about people.

"Hawkins did so much more in his life than slavery which is why I want to recognise him. Obviously I don't condone slavery but the outrage we have received is political correctness gone mad."

Hawkins, a cousin of Sir Francis Drake, started the English slave trade in 1562 when he began sailing pirate missions from Plymouth.

The financial success of his trips inspired other captains to join the transatlantic missions which saw hundreds of thousands of Africans endure horrific conditions over the ensuing 300 years.

Hawkins wrote a book entitled An Alliance to Raid for Slaves which advocates extreme levels of violence as the best way to take captives.

In its previous life, the Hawkins Meeting House was a sports and live music bar called the Breton Arms, which closed in November when the previous owners left.

Mr Lander pointed out that the pub is very close to the location of Hawkins's birth in what was once Kinterbury Street, and there is already a plaque erected in his honour. Plymouth also has a Sir John Hawkins Square.

His partner Laura Ashenford said: "Hawkins lived in a culture where it was perfectly okay to trade in slaves but now people seem to want to hide Plymouth's history under the carpet.

"This is absolutely ridiculous, I am not a racist - in fact, nothing could be farther from the truth."

In 2006, almost four and a half centuries after his death, a descendant of Hawkins publicly apologised for his ancestor's actions in the slave trade.

**Good on Mr Lander for standing up to the leftie race trading fascists, now all we need is a pub to be named after Bomber Harris!

Would the Racial Equality types be interested in the fact that although we Brits traded slaves, that the vast majority of African slaves were taken into slavery by the moslems opperating from North Africa as well as their "brother" Africans.

In fact most slaves bought for the America's were purchased off of moslem slave traders. I could also mention the fact that Barbary slavers from North Africa also raided these shores yet not a peep shall issue forth from the left on that part of history...

Jessica Morden MP - Post office closures.

How can you be for something and also against it at the same time. Easy if your Labour MP Jessica Morden, let me explain.

First off we have her opposing the closure of a local post office, very important to the community and the sort of thing we expect local MP's to do. The cynical might suggest votes are at stake but I shall leave that for now.

Here we see from her site the crowing helping to save the Christchurch Road, post office from closure.. See also her speaking in The Commons.

In her comments she thanks the local paper:
...and also to the Argus for its excellent coverage of the campaign.
Well I am not so sure that she will be thanking the Argus any more after they slated her for her decision to back the government and vote against a Conservative motion to halt the closure of post offices.

Yep that's right she wants to save post offices, well a local one but votes against stopping the cull on a national level.

Needless the local paper had some things to say and I have copied the whole thing below:

NEWPORT East MP Jessica Morden defended her decision to back the government and vote against a Conservative motion to halt the closure of post offices.

The Christchurch Road post office, Newport, was handed a reprieve last week when Post Office Ltd decided against initial proposals to make it one of more than 20 earmarked for closure in Gwent.

Letters to the Argus branded Ms Morden a "hypocrite" for giving her public support to saving Christchurch Road and then voting against the motion to halt the closing process of other branches in the House of Commons last Wednesday.

One letter from M.R Mayo read: "No wonder politicians are held in such low esteem. It's what I call being 'two-faced'". - And so I have found the perfect role for Jessica to base her future political future on:

The Roman god Janus, a role model for Jessica Morden MP.

Another, from Carmel Townsend, wife of Newport Liberal Democrat councillor Ed Townsend, said: "It is disgraceful that she should have been seen to back people in their quest to keep this business open, while voting against a Conservative motion to halt the process of closure."

Ms Morden said: "I couldn't back a Conservative motion when they have closed thousands of post offices before and had refused to sign a funding pledge."

WTF? Talk about a fudge answer. Funding is the basic issue here. Should govt step in with our money to save local offices or should Royal Mail axe them - Unless it's in your area of course - and this has nothing to do with previous closures(under the pervious govt.) but closures brought about under this Labour govt.

Ms Morden said she believed Post Office Ltd losing an estimated £4 million a w:eek meant there was no option but to close several offices. - Unless its in your area, then it is and I quote your own words here:

"I'm absolutely delighted the Post Office has listened to the strong case put by local residents and politicians and has reprieved Christchurch Road. Access to other branches is limited and its closure would have left the area without this service and would have put the shop at risk.

Whilst at the same time she also says:

"I understand there are a number of post offices across the country that are losing money and we can't keep open all of these,"
"I was quite clear at the meeting that I did think Christchurch Road was different. It was blooming and has potential to grow.

"We've got to all use post offices more and make sure they're viable."

She said she was "delighted" Christchurch Road had been saved, and added: "I think it's my job as an MP to raise legitimate concerns that constituents have and in this case I was proved right. I am extremely pleased Post Office have changed their minds."

And changing of minds is something that Jessica Morden knows all about being able to both support and oppose post office closures.

Mind you this is an MP who never votes against the government: Link.

Still she reaped the rewards of a loyal party comrade. Jessica was The general secretary of the Wales Labour party when she did her duty and oversaw the removal and interrogation of comrade Ron Davies over his badger spotting moment of madness on Clapham common.

Shortly after this comrade Jessica was chosen from an all women shortlist to stand for the Labour party in Newport in the election.

Since then she has become the PPS(Parliamentary Private Secretary) - a post she later ended and took back again?- for Peter Hain and said very little on Peter's movement of monies.

Still a loyal comrade, she is in favour of ID cards, likes the idea of Parliament not being transparent -well she has not voted for it - and is against investigating the Iraq War started in part by former comrade Tony Blair.

Here we see Chancellor Darling taking time to show Jessica Morden how to read and put across govt disasters as successes....
(2009) update - New Labour rubber-stamp that has never voted against the Government, who was foisted on the people of Newport from an all women shortlist; as a reward for her work in removing Ron "badger" Davies.

She oversaw the show trial on the part of the party.

Jessica Morden claimed £1,068 a month in mortgage interest payments in 2007-08. In the same year put through claims of £1 for cleaning wipes, and £16.82 for pasting table and spoons

She also voted to fuck over the brave Gurkhas, she voted no for allowing them to stay in the UK. Despite them laying their lives down for this land.

Strangely enough Jessica Morden also voted to save local post offices, yet voted with the government to close them.

Worried about local votes? She should be.

Newport deserves better than a rubber stamp.

Popped a wee small comment in the local paper. Both MP's have a right of reply, unlike one I don't over moderate like Pravda on crack.

Teachers - Opposing the troops.

The old saying of those who can do and those who can not teach has been proven again by the assorted comrades of the National Union Teachers as demonstrated here. They want to ban the MOD from giving talks to students on a potential career in the military, because they use "misleading propaganda".

Apparently they don't give a true enough picture of life in the armed forces, acording to the good comrades of the NUT the youth don't seem to be aware of the dangers.

Here are some of the comments from one of the so called educators:

Paul McGarr, a teacher from east London, said
only when recruiting materials gave a true picture of war would he welcome them into his school. - That would be a true picture according to Mr McGarr not anyone based in the real world.

These would have to say: "Join the Army and we will send you to carry out the imperialist occupation of other people's countries," Mr McGarr said. - An imperialist occupation that was organized by a certain Tony Blair PM, with the full backing of the comrades in the Labour party backed up with his lies over the dodgy dossier. 45 minutes anyone?....

"Join the Army and we will send you to bomb, shoot and possibly torture fellow human beings in other countries. - Much like the lovely Al-Queada chaps who are all of course just nice people deep down and would never engage in torture or mass murder like say flying a plane or two into packed buildings....

"Join the Army and we will send you probably poorly equipped into situations where people will try to shoot or kill you because you are occupying other people's countries. - That would be poorly equipped thanks to bean counting on the part of the same Labour government. Then that same Labour government that wants to censor coroners who speak out about their lack of equipment for the troops.

"Join the Army, and if you survive and come home, possibly injured or mentally damaged, you and your family will be shabbily treated." - By that same Labour government who are bean counting again.

Executive member Martin Reed said young people should have the means to make an informed choice when deciding whether or not to sign up for an Army career - Because no ever thinks that a life in the army might actually involve having to fight....
As I said those who can do, those who can't teach and go to NUT conferences and motions like this. Sadly they blast the military whilst ignoring the fact the wars(Iraq/Afghanistan) they oppose were started by the very government that they will be voting for next election...

Such a shame they had nothing to say on the troops humanitarian work in helping out after disasters around the world, their role in the UN helping to keep the peace and all the good work that they do not just for us but for oppressed people around the world...

Only in the UK. EU forces passengers off buses.

The EU comes up with the crazy rules and we are stupid enough to follow them.

Bus passengers who travel along a route of more than 30 miles must get off the vehicle midway through their journey to comply with new EU laws.

The Brussels ruling dictates that drivers must pull over and let everyone off their bus after 30 miles, to ensure they do not spend too long behind the wheel.

Western Greyhound, a bus company operating in rural Devon and Cornwall, is among those affected.

Its Newquay to Plymouth route has been split in three, even though a single driver is used for the entire distance.

The driver is obliged to pull over and ask everyone to get off before the route number on the front of the vehicle is changed, and all the passengers are invited back on board...

Passengers have been told they must buy three tickets to complete the route, and they must also break their journey twice.

Western Greyhound managing director Mark Howarth said: “It’s a farce. We have to kick customers off as soon as the driver hits the 30-mile limit.

“Often it’s in the middle of nowhere. The passengers think we are crazy.

“We’re caught up in something aimed at long-distance truckers.”

Liberal Democrat transport spokesman Norman Baker has written to Transport Secretary Ruth Kelly asking that bus companies are able to opt-out of the law.

He said: “These rules don’t stop buses running more than 30 miles.

“All they do is inconvenience the passengers who have to keep getting on and off. It’s like an Ealing comedy.”

Long-distance coach journeys are exempt from the law.

No comment needed, other than it is high time we left the EU.

BBC - Lies, damn lies and reports on Israel.

Hat Tip to Crusader Rabbit for this one..
Thanks to JPost - The BBC has apologized for significant errors in two recent news reports on Israel. In a news item on March 7, following the Mercaz Harav Yeshiva attack, the BBC showed a bulldozer demolishing a house, while correspondent Nick Miles told viewers: "Hours after the attack, Israeli bulldozers destroyed his family home. Later, mourners set up Hamas and Islamic Jihad banners nearby." News anchor Geeta Guru-Murthy said: "Now, we would like to clarify a report we heard at this hour last Friday about the attack by a Palestinian gunman on a Jewish seminary in Jerusalem. In the report, the day after the attack, BBC World said that the gunman's home in east Jerusalem had been demolished by the Israeli authorities. That was not correct, and the images broadcast were of another demolition."
Strange how the BBC don't seem to care about being caught out.
In a second incident, in a news item entitled "Israel jets strike northern Gaza" on March 14 on their News Web site, the BBC reported that Israel was deliberately targeting civilians in an operation targeting Kassam rocket launch sites in Gaza, and claiming that the United Nations secretary-general had described it as an attack on civilians. Apologizing for the error, the BBC said in its response, regarding the speech: "We accept we should have made reference to what [Ban] said about Palestinian rocket attacks as well as to the 'excessive use of force' by Israel. We have amended the report, also removing the reference to Israeli 'attacks on civilians.'
In a letter to the BBC, Manchester Jewish community member Jonathan Hantman wrote,

"It is one-sided for the report to describe Israel's operations as 'attacks on civilians' while not describing the Palestinian rocket attacks, to which Israel was responding, as 'attacks on civilians' or 'acts of terrorism.'"

Hantman also pointed out that Ban's attributed comments were made weeks earlier to the UN Security Council and not in reference to that particular attack. He added that it was also wrong to mention the UN secretary-general's condemnation of Israel without mentioning his condemnation of Palestinian rocket attacks in the same statement.

"Ban's statement, made some two weeks ago, did not refer to yesterday's attack and did not describe Israel's operations on Gaza as 'attacks on civilians,'" Hantman noted. "He did, however, describe Palestinian rocket attacks as 'acts of terrorism.'"

In his statement to the UN Security Council on March 1, Ban said: "While recognizing Israel's right to defend itself, I condemn the disproportionate and excessive use of force that has killed and injured so many civilians, including children... I condemn Palestinian rocket attacks and call for the immediate cessation of such acts of terrorism."

Apologizing for the error, the BBC said in its response, regarding the speech: "We accept we should have made reference to what [Ban] said about Palestinian rocket attacks as well as to the 'excessive use of force' by Israel. We have amended the report, also removing the reference to Israeli 'attacks on civilians.'"

Maybe one day the BBC will come clean on its bias against Israel, admit its rascist anti-semitic attitude and maybe release the Balen report?....

A little tune on the license tax. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/seb.hunt/

Some bits on the report the BBC don't want us to read on the Balen report and its Jew hating attitude: honestreporting and pressgazette and wikipedia and guardian

Fag machines may be banned.

Ever the one for un-needed laws the nanny state New Labour govt have decided that the humble fag machines days are numbered.

Give them time and it will be a case of having to get a license to purchase some cigarettes.

Pubs could also be forced to remove cigarettes from behind the bar under the Cancer Reform Strategy, announced last December.

Public Health Minister Dawn Primarolo gave her support to the moves in a new statement, which said: “It’s vital we get across the message to children that smoking is bad.

“If that means stripping out vending machines or removing cigarettes from behind the counter, I’m willing to do that.”

A consultation on the plans is to be launched this Spring and legislation could be in place by the end of the year.

British Beer and Pub Association director of communications Mark Hastings said the group had let ministers know its opposition to the plans.

“They need to get out of the big cities and realise that in many communities the pub is the only place where people can buy a range of products, including cigarettes.

“While cigarettes are a legal product it seems over the top to ban certain places such as pubs selling them.”

Someone save us from the nanny state...

Paul Holmes MP - Fidels useful idiot post 2

A little while back I e-mailed Paul Holmes about a jailed chap in Fidels gulag nation called Normando HernĂĄndez GonzĂĄlez, in response to an he supported EDM.

And I have recieved the whittering long winded reply from him:

Dear Paul,

If you take at face value the garbage printed in the diary column of a Tory newspaper then with respect I have to question the validity of your views, as I do anyone who resorts to personal abuse in correspondence as you do.

It is quite possible to accept that Cuba is a dictatorship that abuses human rights –as I pointed out to Cuban officials on every day of my visit there –and still agree with every word of the EDM you refer to. Nelson Mandela was no stranger to imprisonment for his views but praised Cuba as a shining inspiration and made it the first country he visited as President of a free South Africa.

Perhaps you prefer Columbia? –a good ally of the USA –where journalists, human rights workers, teachers and trade unionists are not imprisoned, just shot dead in the street by Government death squads.

Without excusing Cuban human rights abuses I can still point out that they are much less than under Batista, or Pinochet, or the Argentinian Junta, or Columbia. And much much less than under Saddam Hussein in the days when he was a close ally of Thatcher and the first Bush.

Cuba is ready for change and already opening up as a country. The USA ‘s illegal blockade (plus its harbouring of an airline bomber because he happens to be a Cuban ‘exile’ ) is not the way to help Cuba transform.

Paul Holmes.

Well where to start? First off a reprint of the EDM he agreed with so everyone can see where he stands:

EDM 982
FIDEL CASTRO
20.02.2008

Burgon, Colin
That this House commends the achievements of Fidel Castro in securing first-class free healthcare and education provision for the people of Cuba despite the 44 year illegal US embargo of the Cuban economy; notes the great strides Cuba has taken during this period in many fields such as biotechnology and sport in both of which Cuba is a world leader; acknowledges the esteem in which Castro is held by the people and leaders of Africa, Asia and Latin America for leading the calls for emancipation of the world's poorest people from slavery, hunger and the denial of human rights such as the right to life, the right to shelter, the right to healthcare and basic medicines and the right to education; welcomes the EU statement that constructive engagement with Cuba at this time is the most responsible course of action; and calls upon the Government to respect Cuba's right to self-determination and resist the aggressive forces within the US Administration who are openly planning their own illegal transition in Cuba.

As for the abuse does he mean this comment(below) I posted previously? I can but assume so and by the way I still stand by my comment.

As Devils Kitchen stated each every person who signed this is a cunt.

Shame on him and all the piss poor politicians who through their actions allow the communist dictatorship in Cuba to torture, kill and oppress the rights of free expression of Cuban nationals.

Sadly Mr Holmes fails to cover the case of Mr
GonzĂĄlez but instead does the old politicians trick of going off at a tangent and attacks the US as well as human rights in another American nation.

Human rights in Columbia are not what I am on about here, the point is your support for the gulag and its jailers that are the current rulers of Cuba.

As for comparing its human rights to other nations well sure we can do that till the cows come home, but that is just blurring the issue which is that of Cuba and its poor human rights record. Something that you try to blur by refering to other nations, maybe we could compare dental services across the Americas? Maybe as you said Cuba has fine dental services, after all I am sure that Fidel's torturers have some practice at removing of citizens teeth albeit with pliers!

Getting onto Mandela, well he may have fawned over Cuba, well that is up to him it still changes not a thing about the poor human rights of Mr GonzĂĄlez and so many others. Many thousands of whom risk life and limb sailing to the US of A rather than stay in the land of free dental care that is Cuba.

Maybe you would agree with the point that there has to be something wrong with a nation that forces - at gunpoint - its people to stay. Fidel has also been lambasted for his jailing of homosexuals, routine torture of opponents lack of a free media in Cuba.

As for Cuba opening up, I seriously doubt that. Maybe when the gulags are opened, free speech and homosexuality are allowed, when dissidents are freed then I will believe that Cuba is opening up. Oh and free elections as well.

I shall cover again the case of Mr Normando HernĂĄndez GonzĂĄlez who you failed to even mention in your reply.

Plus: http://www.rsf.org/article.php3?id_article=6917
Also: http://www.pen.org/viewmedia.php/prmMID/912/prmID/174

A jailed Cuban journalist whose health is rapidly deteriorating in the face of prison-contracted diseases has been chosen as one of four writers to mark the Day of the Imprisoned Writer on 15 November. The special day, held on the same date each year, is organised by PEN, the writers' organisation that backs persecuted authors around the world.

Normando HernĂĄndez GonzĂĄlez was imprisoned in 2003 for reports and broadcasts on the internet and Radio MartĂ that were said by the government to endanger security. HernĂĄndez was found guilty of spying and threatening national security, crimes that carry a 25-year jail term. He was one of 75 journalists arrested in the Cuban government crackdown on the press in 2003 and, according to PEN, remains one of 59 still held by the regime.

He was thrown a glimmer of hope a few months ago when the government of Costa Rica effectively granted him asylum in absentia, launching a plea for his release after reports of a downward turn in his condition.

The move came about after HernĂĄndez's mother, Bianca GonzĂĄlez, appealed to Costa Rican legislators to intervene.

José Manuel Echandi, a former Defender of the Citizens in Costa Rica, answered the call and accused Cuba of torture in blocking the journalist's release.

The Cuban journalist's illness has been partly brought about by a hunger strike he began six months ago, but he has also contracted tuberculosis in prison. HernĂĄndez has spent most of the past 12 months in a maximum security prison, but was recently moved to a hospital for treatment.

At Echandi's request, Costa Rica asked Cuba to free HernĂĄndez and allow him to be transferred across the Caribbean Sea for health care attention in that country. When they received no response, Echandi wrote to the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Louise Arbour, to seek help to speed his release.

Press freedom watchdog Reporters Without Borders is also backing the request that HernĂĄndez should be transported to Costa Rica.

"Humanitarian concerns are clearly paramount as regards all prisoners of conscience," the organisation said.

Cuba has more journalists locked up than any other country in the world, apart from China. Those still held since March 2003 are serving sentences ranging from 14 to 27 years.

According to Reporters Without Borders, three journalists held in Cuba were arrested after Fidel Castro's brother RaĂș took over the running of the country last year.

As for abuse Mr Holmes, well how about this. I said before you were a cunt and after your reply I think that you are an even bigger cunt than before. I hope that your words - below - cost you your seat at the next election.

Toodle pip ol chap.
"It is true Cuba has political prisoners and no free elections, but it has very good dentistry"

Is this the shittiest place to live in Britain? Shipston-on-Stour home of Tessa Jowell

Both sleaze ridden Tessa Jowell and pikeys in the same place.

Watch house prices nosedive.

Although the gipsies claimed yesterday to be unaware she has a home so near until after they moved in, there is an undoubted irony in their choice of location. For Miss Jowell was involved in the controversial eviction of gipsies from Newham and Hackney, East London, to prepare for the 2012 Olympics..

A case of payback for sleazey Tessa but my sympathies are with the other residents near her. First they had to deal with the odeous stink of a New Labour minister living amongst them and now the poor people have to deal with gypsies moving in.

Mind you at least the pikeys are honest(ish) when they plan to fuck you over...

Vote as you will but the bill as to pass: The glorious one eye'd leader Gordon on the embryology bill

Via Samizdata, I see that the glorious leader comrade Brown is promoting soviet style democracy to the comrades on the Labour side of the House, over the eugenic embryos bill.

The BBC states that MPs who oppose the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill will be allowed a free vote and will not face sanction as long as the law is passed by Parliament.
The prime minister is prepared to allow MPs who oppose a controversial embryo bill to vote against pieces of the legislation, the BBC has learned.

A senior government official said the sanction would be permitted only if it did not threaten the passage of the bill to develop human-animal embryos.

The official said Gordon Brown accepts that some members of his government object on grounds of conscience.
The crucial point is this part of his statement:

MPs may be allowed to abstain on parts of the bill, as long as its passage is not threatened.

Right up there with any colour you like as long as it's black.

Gordon allows them a vote against parts of the bill but says that the bill has to pass into law so quite what is the point of allowing them to object?

The irony of that would be completely lost on our dour calvinistic leader as he sees nothing wrong with promising the moon to voters or a vote on Europe come to that an then changing his mind as often as he does the cleaning solution for his glass eye.

The one eye'd big brother state of comrade Brown

Millions of motorists will receive parking tickets by post after being caught on CCTV camera under rules that have been called "Orwellian".

Drivers spotted by the "Big Brother" cameras also face fines of up to £120 as part of a Government shake-up of parking regulations which comes into effect from Monday, March 31.

Until now, wardens have had to hand a ticket to a driver or leave it on the windscreen.

But now they will also be able to issue the tickets remotely, without the driver knowing about it until they receive the Penalty Charge Notice through their letterbox....

With New Labour George Orwell's 1984 is not a mere work of fiction it is being used as a guidebook book for party policies...

Raise the drinking age to 21?

Some disjointed reporting from the BBC:
The legal age for buying alcohol could be raised to 21 under proposals being examined by the Scottish Government.

Ministers are considering raising the minimum age from 18, as part of a long-term strategy for tackling the country's drink problem.

Public Health Minister Shona Robison is due to present a number of proposals later in the year.

People in Scotland are twice as likely to die from alcohol-related deaths than elsewhere in the UK.

Ms Robison said nothing had yet been ruled in or out of the government's attempt to curb problem drinking.

A case of what the fuck? Under age folk are the problem according to the media, so quite how is raising the age to 21 when under 18's are happily breaking the law going to help in any way what so ever?

The only thing it will do is turn law abiding folk aged 18-20 into criminals if they fancy a drink, when previously they had been able to drink.

Still soundbite politics is a New Labour strong point, have to been seen to be doing something, anything, even if it is fucking stupid.

Jack Straw - Making up prison policy.

Compare and contrast:

Here are the fine words of wisdom from former Home Sec. Jack "man of" Straw on how to deal with crime. First we flash back to May 2000, when Jack Straw said:
JACK STRAW, the Home Secretary, will unveil controversial plans today under which young men who commit anti-social crimes such as assault, car theft or vandalism would face a "short, sharp" prison sentence.

Mr Straw's move will further anger the penal reform lobby, which will warn that jailing young offenders at an earlier stage could simply turn them into hardened criminals. [...]

The new move is expected to result in a further rise in the prison population, which has increased from 60,335 to 64,632 since Labour came to power in 1997. However, Mr Straw believes his plan could reduce the figure in the long term, and hopes a "taste of prison" will act as a strong deterrent.
Got that tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime etc. All sounds good and hard on crime. Now compare that with his comments on the Pravda style BBC that parrots New Labour propaganda, link to BBC.
Too many people are being sent to prison on short sentences, crowding the system, Justice Secretary Jack Straw has told the BBC.

He said community punishments could "work better" and should be used "in appropriate circumstances". In an interview with BBC political editor Nick Robinson, Mr Straw said: "Short sentences are a matter for the courts to decide and it has to be for them.

"What I am saying, however, is just think about whether community punishments in appropriate circumstances, which can be very tough, and on average can work better than short sentences should not be used."
Fucking hell they are making it up as they go along.

Next week Jack Straw manages to think up another soundbite for the BBC to swallow...

Cancer victim Ama Sumani: Deported, now only another million barbarians to go.

At least we still deport some illegals and good on the authorities for kicking her cancer filled ass out of the UK.

The fact that she died unable to clog up our hospital resources here in the UK, taking up the time of hospital staff - none of which she had paid taxes towards by the way - has got the Guardian reading classes in a tizzy.

Their are howls from the chattering classes about how the cancer treatment was not available in Ghana, well not true. What they mean is that there was no free treatment in Ghana. No Ghana NHS for her, had she been able to pay and friends had raised some 70K I am sure that their would have been medical staff available either in Ghana or some other part of Africa.

The arguement is that the drug thalidomide was not available there for her in Ghana. Well so what? How is that our problem? The woman had money raised some 70K in fact, enough I am sure to buy her more than enough drugs on the open market.

Ms Sumani arrived in the UK five years ago on a student visa but began working in contravention of her visa regulations. So on the one hand we have the howls of outrage that she was deported and on the other we are supposed to ignore her working and in doing so breaking the law.

So a well done to all who deported her and hopefully we will see a lot more health tourists, shiftless dole drawers, jihadists and other undesirable types removed from our fair shores.

The death of a cancer victim only two months after she was deported while receiving treatment at a Cardiff hospital is “on the nation’s conscience”, the Archbishop of Wales said yesterday.

Ama Sumani, 39, was removed from the hospital by five immigration officials who drove her to Heathrow and put her on a flight to her native Ghana. Mrs Sumani, a mother of two, died because the treatment she needed was not available in her home country.

One down another million to go...

Britain - regarded as a joke by third world toilet nation Yemen.

The Arab playboy who escaped to Yemen after his ex-girlfriend was murdered will never face justice.

Authorities there are refusing to hand him over in revenge for Britain's handling of hate cleric Abu Hamza's case.

British detectives urgently want to speak to billionaire's son Farooq Abdulhak, who fled to his home country the day after 23-year-old Martine Vik Magnussen was killed near his central London apartment.

But Abdul Kahtan, director of the country's international police force, said yesterday: "He cannot be handed over because our constitution bans extradition."

Diplomats in the Yemeni capital Sana'a suggested the tough stance may stem from Britain's failure to give them hookhanded preacher Abu Hamza, whom Yemen wanted to question about terror offences.

One source said: "For years, Yemen wanted Abu Hamza in connection with terrorism offences, but the British refused to extradite him here.

"Now they have a chance to get one back. It's revenge."

Hamza, convicted of preaching sermons of hate at London's Finsbury Park Mosque, has since been extradited to the U.S. to face terrorism charges there.

So what are authorities here in the UK going to do? Well if past cases like the Gillian Gibbons case in the Sudan are anything to go by not a lot. Gillian who was accused of insulting the prophet Mohammed after naming a Teddy bear Mohammed, was left to rot in the Sudan by the gutless sniveling coward of a foreign Sec. David Milliband. (Who I refer to as David Milicunt). When moslem peers in the Lords managed to strike a deal to get her out it was against the wishes - and also stories say they attempted to stop their trip to free her - of our foreign office that was quite happy to let her rot and be flogged or killed by Sudanese barbarians.

So no chance then that the UK will cut off some of the £117 million in aid that we give that third world toilet nation? Maybe New Labour's ethical foreign policy only go's as far as covering up bungs to Saudi royals in arms deals, supporting Saudi torturers of UK citizens in our courts and leaving our citizens to rot when they are accused of crimes by Sudanese barbarians.

So accused murderer Farooq Abdulhak is free, the UK has been made to look like a joke by the toilet nation of Yemen and we will still hand them development aid.
As for our Forign Sec. David Milicunt, well he is not bothered it is far easier for him to do nothing and await a cushy job in a few years working for the EU.

New Labour happy to grease the palms of Saudi royals and do nothing for the rights of murdered UK citizens.

Truly we have the most amoral government in recent years.

Pedophile Raymond Horne sent back to UK

Here in the UK we have a government that is stopped by EU laws and high court judges here in the UK from deporting illegal criminals, whilst in Australia they just pop them on the first plane out to where ever they came from.

Still I have to admire the Australian sense of humour in the fact that 200 years ago we deported our criminals to Australia to build the colonies, now that the job is done they are shipping them back to us here in the UK.

Have to say that as much as I like many Australian imports, well Fosters aside as its shit.

This however is one import that we could have done without.

More Moslem whining.

Seems that the Umma want us all to be good little dhimmi's and know our place in the future Britainistan.

Muslim immigrants face so much discrimination and hostility that they don't feel they belong here, according to a liberal research group.
**Then they could always attempt to join in rather than change our society, or leave.

As part of efforts to improve integration, it called for an improvement in public behaviour towards Muslims.

**How about they improve their behavior and report terrorists and I quote New Labour speak here who are "engaged in anti-Islamic activitys."

And it said other Britons are wrong to worry about segregation and Muslim-dominated enclaves, as there are benefits to "residential clustering".

The report, for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, is a strike for multiculturalism, the doctrine which encourages the development of minorities.

Multiculturalism fell out of favour in 2005, after the Government's equality chief Trevor Phillips warned that the country was "sleepwalking to segregation".

Ministers have since called for the encouragement of "cohesion", including more teaching of English and an end to grants being handed to organisations from single ethnic and religious groups.

The study, based on interviews with 319 men and women, including 229 Muslims, found that the majority of interviewees had not experienced unfair treatment because of their colour or ethnicity.

Fewer than 50 per cent of minority members interviewed had experienced race prejudice and just 30 per cent of recent Muslim immigrants had experienced religious discrimination.

The report, produced by researchers from the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society, at Oxford University, found that: "A sense of belonging in Britain for all migrants, recent and established, was negatively affected by their perception of lack of acceptance in the UK.

"It is this perception of being unwelcome and of discrimination rather than attachment to their country of origin that diminishes a sense of belonging in British society, and there is thus a need to address public attitudes towards Muslims and towards migrants as a key component of cohesion strategy."

On ethnic enclaves, it said findings "challenge the assumption that residential clustering of people from particular ethnic or religious backgrounds is necessarily a barrier to social interaction across those boundaries".

The report added that perception of religious prejudice contributing to unfairness over employment, housing and services, had deepened among Muslims since 2001.

**Would that be when moslems decided to destroy the Trade towers? When moslems cheered in Palestine and many moslem clerics still speak of Osama and co as "the glorious 19!"

The day they give up trying to turn Britain into a moslem nation is the day they will find that the so called oppression ends.

Cyclops Army, I mean Dad's Army...

Gordon Brown wants tens of thousands of Britons to join a new Dads’ Army-style volunteer force to help the Government tackle threats to national security.

The Prime Minister also said ministers will also publish an annual risk register of the top threats facing Britain....

The new force, called a new Civil Protection Network, will be based on the local Neighbourhood Watch schemes.
**As if they have not pissed away enough tax payers money as it is. Now they will set up another body of jobsworths, petty pen pushers and New Labour apratchiks. All we need is some talentless arsehole to set it up, maybe former Home Sec. David Blunkett who gave us the fucking shit Community Support Officers could head it up. Camra calls on Alistair Darling(aka Squealer from Animal Farm) to revoke rises on beer.

And pigs shall fly. A socialist government, a nanny state like the one we have in the UK lower taxes? It will never happen.

Socialists raise taxes, socialists reduce people to poverty to get them dependent on the state, socialists oppose people enjoying themselves and living independent lives free from the all seeing eye of unelected PM Gordon "cyclops" Brown.

Still worth a try.

After all they claim to be for the people, even if they won't let us vote on Europe....

Dear Parliamentarian

Beer Duty Increases are ‘a charter for smugglers and cheap supermarket booze'

As a consumer organisation representing over 90,000 consumers CAMRA has condemned the Chancellor's irresponsible tax raid on community pubs and beer. The Chancellor's budget increase of 4 pence a pint will lead to price rises of 20 pence or more on a pint in community pubs, fuelling pub closures and increasing unregulated drinking as more choose to drink at home or on the streets.

The vast majority of community pubs are run as small businesses that provide a modest profit for their owners. These business-people are now faced with the difficult choice of increasing their beer prices by 20 pence a pint or struggling to make a living on lower profit margins.

Pubs provide a regulated environment for people to enjoy alcohol socially and responsibly. This budget increase will further widen the gap between supermarket and pub beer prices, which will lead to fewer people drinking in pubs and more people drinking at home or on the streets.

The Chancellor has failed to recognise that well-run community pubs are the solution to Britain's binge drinking problems. This budget will do nothing to stop binge drinking, but it will lead to pub closures on a huge scale, widen the gap between supermarket and pub prices and encourage smuggling and cross-border shopping. It's a big nail whacked ruthlessly into the coffin of the community pub.

In addition to over 15 million people who enjoy drinking beer on a regular basis over 600,000 people in the UK rely on beer and pubs for their employment. According to the British Beer and Pub Association every pint sold in a pub nets the Government £1.14 in duty, VAT and employment taxes. This reckless beer duty rise is putting this tax revenue and people's jobs at risk as it will drive hard pressed consumers to buy beer from supermarkets rather than their local community pub.

Pubs are defined as local services in the Sustainable Communities Act 2007 yet this budget gives no consideration to the continued viability of pubs. Unlike pubs supermarkets look set to benefit from this beer duty increase as higher pub beer prices will increase the power of discounted alcohol as a means of attracting customers to their stores. Unlike pubs supermarkets do not rely on alcohol sales to make a profit.

On behalf of our 90,000 members and Britain's 15 million beer drinkers I urge you to press the UK Chancellor to reconsider this reckless tax raid on community pubs and beer.

Yours sincerely

The Campaign to have Alistair Darling Barred from every pub in the United Kingdom.

Alistair Darling has raised taxes on beer by 4 pence a pint with annual increases of 2% above inflation year on year for the next four years.

This comes at a time when 27 pubs a week are closing due to the smoking ban and rising industry costs.

“The Chancellor has failed to recognise that well-run community pubs are the solution to Britain’s binge drinking problems. This budget will do nothing to stop binge drinking, but it will lead to pub closures on a huge scale, widen the gap between supermarket and pub prices and encourage smuggling and cross-border shopping. "The government is punishing all beer drinkers rather than punishing the minority of drunken hooligans. Apeal to save the Hereford Arms

We here a lot in the media about how drinking is the 21st Century curse, that all the folk of the UK are doing is going on a 24 hour drinking binge.

Sadly more and more of our decent local pubs are going to the wall, leaving us with soul less beer dispensers like JD Wetherspoon(the Mc'Donalds of the beer world).

Another local in Newport looks to be headed for extinction, turned into yet more flats.

The removal of pubs from an area is a negative that impacts heavily on the local community. They are a focus for the community, a meeting place and often - like the Hereford - have been on the site a long time and are a part of the local history.

Should pubs like The Hereford vanish people have to travel further to meet up, they are less likely to stay in touch with the local community and all to fragile ties can be broken.

Sadly a part of the local history that is all too often overlooked when it comes to redevelopment in an area.

One only has to look at the campaign in Newport over both the mural in John Frost Square that people were desperate to save and the other local campaign that saved the Newport ship. Yet when it comes to local pubs we are all to often quiet when they are removed for "redevelopment" and before we know it another part of our history has gone for good.
Crossposted from Brew Wales.

One of the last back-street local pubs in Newport is set to be turned into flats. The popular Hereford Arms in Maindee, the only true free house in the area is under threat of closure. This friendly community pub is popular with bikers and offers 1 real ale from independent breweries such as Wye Valley, Brains and Freeminer. It also offers bottled real ales from other breweries such as Fullers. The pub also has traditional pub games such as Shove Ha'penny and a pool table. The company owning this pub now want this Victorian corner pub to be turned into flats. Help us save the pub by writing to Newport Council objecting to the closure.

Families have to spend more as Darling ruins the UK economy.

The ten year plan by the New Labour communists has ruined our economy, record levels of national and personal debt and for all they attempt to blame the US; they can not avoid the stink of their poor socialist planning having massive holes in it.

From the Daily Mail.

Essential family bills for petrol and staple foods are rising at their fastest pace since records began.

Official figures yesterday showed increases of up to 40 per cent over the past year – with the prospect of more to come.

The inflation rate jumped from 2.2 per cent in January to 2.5 per cent in February, against a Government target of just two per cent.

Debt experts warned that "superinflationary" rises could push record numbers into insolvency this year.

The Consumer Credit Counselling Service, one of Britain's leading debt charities, said those who came to it for help had already pared their budgets to the bone...

Recent research showed the increases in all household bills have left the average family £800 worse off this year, even after pay rises...

Another grim report revealed that the number of people falling behind with their mortgages in January and February was 35 per cent higher than last year.

The accountants KPMG predicts that 130,000 people this year will become bankrupt or make a deal with their creditors, known as an Individual Voluntary Arrangement.

Just five years ago, only 30,600 people became insolvent in a year.

An analysis by the investment group Alliance Trust showed that the elderly are the biggest losers from rising price.

Increases in food and energy costs hit them hardest because they spend a higher percentage of their income on these items.

For people over 75, the study said, the real inflation rate is 3.4 per cent.

At least the chimp could not make such a bad job of being Chancellor as Darling does. Oh and at least the chimp has eyebrows and hair colour that matches.
