Essex County Council wastes some 24K sending nine councilors off to a junket in Virginia. The excuse being that some of the American settlers came from Essex.
Yet not a peep on this from government, not a promise to control such waste from New Labour. Indeed their policies have allowed local government to explode into all aspects of our lives, hiring millions of non jobs, pen pushers and bean counters.

A cunt from Essex council called Lord Hanningfield(one of those on said freebie) said:
"The council wanted to use the interest generated by the Jamestown anniversary to create trade and business links between Essex and Virginia.
"We also wanted to encourage more American tourists to explore their Essex heritage."

Fuck off to him and the other wasters in Essex council.
