David Parker from the Met Office's Hadley Centre:
"If you take a trend over ten years, you don't get a warming, but that's too short a period in which to get a trend. In a proper long-term sense we are on a warming trend. The expectation is that the temperature of the world is going up and up.

"There's no evidence that global warming isn't happening."
Got that. I refer David Parker to the late and brilliant author Douglas Adams who covered using one fact to prove something else totally different in his book The Hitchhikers Guide:
...Man using the improbable creature called the Babel fish as proof to the non-existence of God... the novel says, "Man then goes on to prove that black is white and gets himself killed at the next zebra crossing."
