Levels of gun crime actually rose in two of the four areas which operated a Home Office crackdown on gang violence, it has been revealed.
Home Secretary Jacqui Smith said the Tackling Gangs Action Programme saw a 51% fall in gun injuries from 93 in October to 46 in February.
But analysis of figures published by the Home Office showed there were 13 gun killings during the six-month campaign compared with 12 in the same period the previous year.
And of course this sad case that shows the mess Labour have made over the last 11 years:
Magda Pniewska, 26, was shot in the head in New Cross, south London, in October last year. The youth, who cannot be named, said he let off a couple of shots into the air to scare the other youth off.
Fired off some shots -as one does - to scare off some other feral fuckwit. We are turning into Dodge City and the Home Sec. sits about with her thumb up her arse.
**Oh dear, it would appear that the phrase "Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime" has been - excuse the pun - shot down in flames. But there is worse for the kebab munching one, even the police are angry with her over the piss poor pay deal that they got.
And who can blame them, money from mass murderers in The Sudan (we give around £135 million a year to the Sudanese govt), money for Northern Rock, money for the 10p tax screw up and lots to fritter away on MP's expenses.
This is just so poetic, so well deserved and hell funny watching dim witted Jacqui Smith realises that the plebs are not happy:
Sitting stony-faced at the Police Federation annual conference, Ms Smith remained impassive as the chairwoman, Jan Berry, berated her for "betraying" the service and breaching the trust between police and government.
As the two women shared a stage at the conference, Ms Berry mockingly referred to the Home Secretary's admission that she smoked cannabis as a student. "Your recent crimes have been more for the serious fraud office than the drug squad," she said.
But she added, to laughter: "I am sure ... you felt like reaching for a stab-proof vest." Ms Berry went on: "Your decision not to honour the pay award was a breach of faith. It was a monumental mistake and I don't say this lightly when I say to you that you betrayed the police service.
"How was it that the Government found £2.7bn to dig itself out of a tax hole in advance of a by-election but couldn't find £30m to honour our pay deal?"
Ms Smith – who faced hostile questions from police officers and even a cry of "give us our money" – insisted the decision was justified by the need to keep inflation under control. She also dismissed a suggestion that she should resign over the episode.
Well said Ms Berry. Still another day another New Labour fuck up...But that is not all the bad news for Jacqui Smith, it would appear that all the squillions that they have poured into tackling "youth crime" has failed.
"All the expenditure and activity to reduce youth crime has had no measurable impact. Claims of significant success are overstated."That's the verdict of the Centre for Crime and Justice Studies at Kings College London.
Would it not have been cheaper in the long run and probably detered more from a life of crime had they jailed criminals at the first offence and shown that they really were tough on the real causes of crime, the criminals.
11 years and billions wasted, what a worthless shower of shit New Labour are.
2 people have spoken:
"Would it not have been cheaper in the long run and probably detered more from a life of crime had they jailed criminals at the first offence and shown that they really were tough on the real causes of crime, the criminals."
These are leftists mate, thou shalt not punish the perp, no matter what. Nice to see your gun-control laws are working just as well as ours, not.
The more they fail the more people will vote Tory come the election.
