They (Labour) claimed that the coffers were empty.
Yet the same coffers were not empty to pay consultants.
The Home Office has spent on consultancy fees, for the years 2005/06 until 2007/08.
£382,615,960
According to information released by the Home Office under Freedom of Information legislation last month. As as the Police Federation's chair, Jan Berry stated:
"the government could find £2.7bn to dig itself out of a hole before a byelection but couldn't find £30m to settle our pay award"
Makes you wonder where their priorities are. Oh, they lost the byelection in case you were wondering. Still a shame about all those members of the police who are still awaiting their pay award. Bet you they can find the money when MP's saleries come up for review...
Although you will be glad to know that the plastic police, Blunketts bobbies, PCSO's(Police Community Support Officers) got their pay increase in full, despite doing and being worth fuck all.

We got the same thing here with labour, the bureaucracy is ever expanding, to spin bad stories into good ones, fudge the figures and make the politicians look like they're doing something. Meanwhile those on the frontlines, like your cops get screwed even tighter. Who said incompetence doesn't pay.
MK being inept is what Labour is about in any nation.
