Written answers to Shadow Secretary for Work and Pensions, Chris Grayling, revealed that around 7040 claimants have been excluded from the New Deal for Young People and 16,050 people have been excluded from the New Deal for 25 Plus since the programmes began in 1998.
Reasons for excluding claimants include verbal or physical assault, the threat of assault, damage to property, or drink or drug addiction. Job Centre managers may exclude participants if they feel their presence would cause disruption to others.
The number of exclusions from the New Deal has increased in recent years.
Commenting on today's figures, Shadow Secretary for Work and Pensions, Chris Grayling, said:
"This is further evidence that Labour's one size fits all New Deal is failing. Conservative plans for welfare reform will get tough on people who won't play by the rules. There will be specialised support programmes for the hardest to help, but those who refuse to participate will have their benefits cut. It is simply unacceptable that people can blackmail Job Centres through bad behaviour."
**So there you have it, even the feral unemployed know that they can have a life of ease by the use of threats and bad behaviour. I wonder if New Labour have actually cut the benefits off of any of these people as they are breaking the contract that states that they should be actively seeking work?
When you read things like that you can understand why whole sink estates all vote Labour as they know that the benefits will keep on rolling in, it also explains why some towns like the vermin infested MerthyrTydfil have one in five of the population on long term sick.
Although maybe, just maybe in the case of Merthyr the town is twinned with Chernobyl and they all have radiation sickness?...
