New Labour: Soft on crime.

The British government faces a potential diplomatic row with Antigua over the shooting of the honeymoon couple Catherine and Benjamin Mullany after demanding that anyone convicted of the crime will not face the death penalty. Antiguan officials told The Daily Telegraph that the Foreign Office attempted to make such a pledge a condition of allowing Scotland Yard detectives to fly out to help in the investigation. One senior Antiguan source said British officials initially demanded a signed guarantee from the country’s Prime Minister, Baldwin Spencer.

The Antiguan interior minister told the Foreign Office that the government could not make any such pledge as the death penalty was decided by the Caribbean island’s judiciary, which is technically independent. The British demand to its former colony is understood to have annoyed Antigua’s leadership. Eight years ago, the two countries clashed diplomatically with its former colony after the UK tried to stop the execution of Steadroy McDougal for the murder of a Scottish woman and her boyfriend.

With Antiguan police struggling to find suspects in the shooting of Catherine and Benjamin Mullany, Britain has decided to dispatch a team of detectives despite the absence of any death penalty guarantee.

However, the Foreign Office has made clear in strong terms to the Antiguans that it does not expect anyone convicted as a result of a British investigation to face capital punishment.

A Foreign Office spokesman said that, “in parallel” to the investigation, “we will continue to seek assurances from the Antiguan government that anyone found guilty will not face the death penalty”.

*Well the Foreign Office, which I might add is under the control of David Milicuntband should fuck right off. Quite who do they think they are attempting to make it a condition that when the murderer has been caught he/she should not face the full weight of that independent nations laws.

Still it shows that our nations socialist masters seems far more concerned over the "rights" of killers abroad, rather than the rights of our nationals who have been killed.

New Labour are the sort of people who could see you laying in the road after being beaten half to death and with a look of pity say that the person who had done that to you was really deserving of help and state assistance. Then walk off saying that they would call you an ambulance but they have a very important meeting to attend and as they are awaiting a call can not tie their phone up helping you.

Meanwhile murderers over here in the UK, have to suffer this:

Daily Mail - The Prison Service has spent £221,726 [of taxpayers money] on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo systems and software to keep jailed criminals entertained. Ministers have previously admitted spending only £10,000 on the machines.

An audit carried out last month on Justice Secretary Jack Straw’s orders turned up 12,948 game consoles in prisons and young-offender institutions in England and Wales, showing how widespread their use is among the 83,600 prison population. While most of them were bought by inmates themselves, a total of 1,715, costing between £100 and £300 each, was provided by the Prison Service. [

It was disclosed recently that thousands of inmates have access to Sky TV and computers, and last week it was revealed that more money is spent on food for prisoners in police cells than for NHS patients.

They paid for them themselves? So fucking what, they are in nick!

If they can afford anything they can have it?

They should have the money taken off and given to their fucking victims, or used towards the cost of keeping them inside.

Guy I know got done recently for damage to property (family dispute), got the option of a fine or a one month stretch. Did the time, only complained afterwards about the screws listening in on phonecalls.

When you consider the penalty is fines at a £1 a week or doing time with benefits mentioned in article it is as plain as the nose on your face that the Labour party policies are failing.

Sadly Jock that is all to common, hell cut the bastards benefits off for a few weeks would hurt them a lot more than a spell inside.
