From the Daily Mail...
A Labour campaigner is embroiled in a £15,000 legal battle for compensation after his finger was allegedly bitten off by a dog as he dropped leaflets off at homes.
Former Labour councillor Brian Hunter is suing pet owner Mark Monroe, 44, for the loss of the tip of his little finger.
Mr Hunter, 65, from Westerhope in Newcastle, says he was bitten by Monroe's Jack Russell, named Jack, when his hand became trapped in the letterbox.
He was delivering leaflets for the Labour Party during a Newcastle City Council by-election in Lemington in November 2006.
Mr Monroe, a former painter and decorator, said the first he knew of the alleged incident was when he came home and found a blooded finger on his doormat.
'Jack is 12 years old and has few teeth left - and the ones he does have are rotten,' Mr Monroe said.
'He's a lovely dog and although he barks he hasn't bitten anyone.
'It's also impossible for Jack to bite someone's hand because there's a letterbox guard.'
**Well done Jack, wonder if he can be trained to take down and kill one James Gordon Brown....
2 people have spoken:
Well, if there's a letterbox guard the dog couldn't have bitten his finger could he? So someone is lying through their teeth. H'm dog owner v. FORMER LIEBOUR COUNCILLOR - difficult call - NOT!
I suppose he sees it as one way to supplement his pension? 10 fingers at £15,000 per finger=£150,000. Beats putting in a couple of hour at B&Q every week.
RM, I just hope the dog did not catch anything from the socialist.
Again I say "Good dog!"
