The following police authorities lost money in Icelandic banks:
- Gwent Police Authority - £1m
- South Wales Police Authority - £7m
- Dyfed-Powys Police Authority - £2m
Gwent Police Authority has £1m invested and neighbouring South Wales Police Authority £7m. Dyfed-Powys Police Authority, meanwhile, has £2m deposited in UK subsidiaries of Icelandic banks.
South Wales Police Authority said its investment was split between £3m in Landsbanki and £4m in its subsidiary Heritable.
A spokesperson said "by no means is this money lost" and pledged front line services will not be affected.
So if in these areas do watch out as should you break the law you may well be in line for a fine, after all as they to recoup the cash somehow.
I wonder if there will be a lobbying on the part of PC plod and co. to get the government to raise the amount of crimes you can be charged for, add some new offences and hire some more worthless jobsworth scum to raise taxes.
Sorry I meant to say PCSO's, but worthless scum is just so more accurate.
