James Purnell - Left details on a train.

Well not happy with their agencies, staff and such like losing stuff the government are now losing it themselves: One James Purnell left confidential correspondence on a train

Now I can understand someone working on a train but come on for fucks sake, at least think to take all your stuff with you. Hell its not like we don't get a message on the train advising people to take their belongings with them.

Mr Purnell's spokeswoman said he had been working on papers from his ministerial "red box", but had not broken any rules by taking them on a train.

She said they was "one letter from an MP with the attached correspondence".

The Sunday Mirror said they were from Sir Gerald Kaufman MP and related to one of his constituents. They were picked up by a fellow passenger on the train.

Responding to the incident, the prime minister said Mr Purnell would be "as concerned as me that rules for the future ensure that these things cannot happen".

Well red faces all round, although quite how cyclops is going to "ensure that these things can not happen", that just sounds like soundbite talk to me. Although a good one to pull him up on the next time some minister for paperclips leaves tractor production targets on the train or bus.

I do wonder if Mr Purnell will be paying a fine like the one imposed on the chap who left stuff on a train before, or is it a different matter when involving ministers?
