Paul Flynn - 1984. He just doesn't get it.

Every MP was sent a copy of 1984, the aims of that were quite simple:

All MPs have been accounted for. 646 copies of 1984 will arrive at the Commons on November 5, one to be delivered to each MPs office.

This campaign has been organised by LPUK, because our MPs need to understand that they are our rights and we won’t let them be taken away with a fight.

From the LPUK link above I have copied this section:
This book cost less than a fiver; are you prepared to spend the price of a couple of pints for your freedom?
On November 5th 1605 Guido Fawkes, 'the only man to enter Parliament with honest intent', sought to end the repressive rule of a King from Scotland who brought repression to the Country. The rule of the Stuarts ended on the battlefield of Naseby, with Absolutism subordinate to the rule of Law and Parliament.

The United Kingdom has now become riven with Cameras, unaccountable Local Authorities losing millions in Iceland. Who are speaking up for the people of this Country, as we are plundered as taxpayers to prop up the Banks, not the MPs that's for sure.

We want to send a message to Parliament, we want 646 copies of '1984', one to be sent to each member of Parliament - make your pledge at 1984@lpuk.org to send a copy to arrive on November 5th.
We have cameras - there just for the cash - bin police, local authorities using spying laws to enforce such rules as fly tipping - hardly James Bond is it? - the DNA database, data bases for well almost every thing this government can think up, PCSO's who think if you have a camera you are a member of Al Quada and ever more infringment of our traditional freedoms.

Yet we get this from the dire MP Paul Flynn:

All MPs were recently sent a copy of George Orwell's 1984.

It appears to be a fresh stunt by those who want to bring smoking back into pubs. A note with the book vainly tries to draw a comparison between a very popular health reform with the terror methods of Big Brother. It's irksome for the inveterate smoker to use designated areas but it is hardly torture by rats.

The point fails because of  gross exaggeration.  I have not noticed any political party raising the battle cry, 'Put the stink back into pubs.'

Really, I saw not a mention of the smoking ban in any of the stuff about the 1984 campaign, sure a lot of people agree with the smoking ban whilst others (arguably as many) hate it, but to claim that the 1984 campaign is related to irate smokers "wanting the stink back in the pub" - Flynns words is a non argument.

Still Flynn represents a party that has stopped protest near the House of Commons, a party held to ransom by the banks - bail us out or we blame you and your MP's won't be re-elected! A party of sexed up dossiers, a party that hounded Dr Kelly to death, dreamed up the 45min threat from Iraq, the party that has created some 26000 new laws since 1997 and still can not make the streets safe, the party of 3000 new crimes since 1997, the terrorism act that can be used against anyone, the party of ID cards, the party of RIPA, the party of countless data bases, the party of constant data losses, the party of going back on its election pledges, the party of spin on climate change, the party of petty hatreds, the party of backhanders, graft, lies and spin.

Although the best comment on his webshyte was this one:

See that thing way up there over your head, Paul?

That was the point of the gift.

Do pop over and have a read of the whole thing here, Flynn is just so out of his depth, oh the schaudenfraud.

Well the proven liar has also been ripped a new one by a few websites, first up Old Holborn who starts and finishes with this gem:
Of course, MP's can still smoke in the Strangers Bar in the House of Commons. No standing in the rain for them. Maybe we should send them Animal Farm next.
Next we have looking for a voice

An of course DK has also had a brilliant dig at Flynn: http://devilskitchen.me.uk/2008/11/paul-flynn-receives-1984.html

I liked this bit
Oh, and let's also note that, on top of his £61,000 salary, Paul decided to spent an extra £140,000 of our money on expenses last year.
I shall leave with a little video I put together some time back about this proven liar of an MP, check out Mr Flynns Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Flynn_(politician)

Do take note of the fact that he has been sued for telling porkie pies.

I can see this useless MP plays an important role in the world.

Good blog, always full of wit and humour, a daily read for me.

Cheers Ian, Mr Flynn has his role. Not sure quite what that is other than as a point of mockery around Newport.

£100 says he gets a serious drubbing in the polls next election, if he lives that long!
