Dr John Sentamu appears to be delivering a mixed message to his flock.
First up we have him calling for Mugabe to be forced out.
n an extraordinary and passionate outburst, the Archbishop of York is calling for President Robert Mugabe to be toppled from power and face trial for crimes against humanity,Dr John Sentamu, writing in The Observer, said the world must recognise that the time for talks was over and Mugabe should be forced out. ‘The time has come for Robert Mugabe to answer for his crimes against humanity, against his countrymen and women and for justice to be done. The winds of change that once brought hope to Zimbabwe and its neighbours have become a hurricane of destruction, with the outbreak of cholera, destitution, starvation and systemic abuse of power by the state,’ he says. But he takes a different view with regards the dictator Saddam Hussain.
In February 2003, while thousands marched in London, he led church-wide protests in Birmingham against the invasion of Iraq. “There is no moral basis for a military invasion of Iraq,” he said at the time.So one dictator he wants left alone, or was it the fact UK troops were going to the middle east to remove him that he objected to(along with traditional US bashing from the Church). So that aside now he wants Mugabe removed would he be happy for US or British troops to do that work?
It always amazes me how hypocritical certain representatives of god are.
