More New Labour sleaze: Baroness Valerie Amos.

Some pigs are more equal than others.

No conflict of interest here, nothing to see. All the sleaze is with other parties, move along now....
A former cabinet minister has taken up a lucrative directorship of an African company which received £15million from a firm owned by her one-time department.

Baroness Amos, the former International Development Secretary, became a non-executive director of Travant Capital Partners  -  a Nigerian private equity firm  -  in 2007.

Her appointment came shortly after Travant Capital received £15million from the Government-run company CDC, which is owned by the department she used to run.

CDC uses private equity funds  -  such as Travant Capital  -  to plough public money into poorer countries, mainly in Africa and Asia. When Travant Capital was launched in 2007, more than a third of its first equity fund came from the DfID through CDC.

Baroness Amos left the Cabinet when Gordon Brown became Prime Minister in June 2007 and was appointed as the EU's representative to the African Union.

She lists the directorship as 'remunerated' in the Register of Lords Interests, although it was last night unclear how much she is paid.

Conservative MP David Davies said: 'Once again we have the situation where Gordon Brown's ministers are using their contacts to grab lucrative private sector jobs almost as soon as they've left office. Inevitably this creates potential conflicts of interest.

'It is vital that former ministers avoid any hint of using their former position for private gain. I hope Baroness Amos will act swiftly and set out the full details of her involvement with Travant Capital Partners.'

A spokesman for CDC insisted the decision to invest in Travant was taken on a 'commercial basis'. He added that the company was not informed of Baroness's directorship before deciding to invest.

So there you have it, another champagne swilling socialist joins an agency, then uses their position to work to their advantage. Her agency pays that company money an she then leaps aboard the gravy train.

Was that what they meant about having an "ethical foreign policy" when they were elected in 1997?

Oh and I don't suppose there is the slightest chance that we the taxpayers of the land will be getting our £15 million quid back?

Still at least being black she can play the race card against anyone who dares question her and her motives....

New Labour a huge "gold standard cock-up", amoral, corrupt and evil to the core. Run by nomenklatura supporting a leader out of touch with reality.
