New Labour Sleaze, the elusive Clr creeps out: Mohammed Najib

From halifax courier

THE former councillor wanted by police investigating election fraud has told the Courier ill health has kept him abroad.

Police said Mohammed Najib had failed to answer bail in September over vote rigging allegations.

But, speaking from Pakistan, Mr Najib said he had left the country with the full knowledge of the police

He said he intended to return to the UK when he was fit.

Mr Najib said he was puzzled as to why police failed to contact him directly.

The Courier reported yesterday that police were making inquiries into his whereabouts and believed he was in Pakistan.

He said he has been living in the Kashmir region of Mirpur since August when he went to Pakistan to marry.

He fell ill with a bad back, a heart problem and urinary infection which delayed his return.

He needed hospital treatment and was still under medical supervision – and the police were faxed a doctor's medical note by his Halifax solicitor Chris Haddock, he said.

Mr Najib said he was looking forward to returning and clearing his name as the allegations against him were "absolute rubbish".

"As soon as my doctor says it is all right I will be back." he said.

"I want to live in Calderdale. They are my people. I want to get rid of this label that has been stuck to me."

Mr Haddock said he had communicated with the police by phone and fax. "I contacted them with regard to his illness which is the reason he did not answer his bail," he said.

"The police have not been in contact with me regarding their wish to contact him."

Mr Najib's son, Nadim, said he had also given officers information regarding his father when they called at the family's Halifax home.

"I gave them a number, personally. He has not done a runner," he said.
Mr Najib lost his Labour seat in Park ward last year. He was a councillor for 22 years.

A police spokeswoman said: "Following ongoing police inquiries the 56-year-old man arrested has been spoken to by a police officer since he failed to answer his bail.

"We have received documentation from a medical professional in Pakistan which states the man was unable to fly. However this has now expired.

"The investigation into the alleged electoral fraud continues and the man will still be expected to surrender to a police station upon his return to the UK."

I covered the elusive Mr Najib before: here

As I stated before on my last post...In the words of Monty Python from the Holy Grail -That classic tune when Sir Robin runs away reworked...

Mohammed Najib ran away.
Bravely ran away, away.
When danger reared its ugly head, he bravely turned his tail and fled.
Mohammed Najib turned about
And gallantly, he chickened out. Bravely taking to his feet,
He beat a very brave retreat,
Bravest of the brave, Mohammed Najib.

Lets just hope that his bad back gets better and that he is in the best of health for his appearnce before the courts.

I look forward to seeing(and covering) what answers the elsuive Mr Najib has for the justice system....

New Labour a huge "gold standard cock-up", amoral, corrupt and evil to the core. Run by nomenklatura supporting a leader out of touch with reality.

So just after getting married "He fell ill with a bad back, a heart problem and urinary infection which delayed his return."
