Cambridge University has been accused of advocating slavery and racism yesterday by hosting a glamorous ball to celebrate the excesses of the British Empire.
Emmanuel college is hosting the ‘Empire’ ball in honour of ‘the Victorian commonwealth and all of its decadences’ priced at £136 per head.
But there was outrage from anti-racist groups as students were urged to ‘Party like it’s 1899’ - the year the Boer War started and concentration camps were used for the first time.
Well they have caved in. The miserable joyless see offence in anything they disagree with loons of the left have scored a victory.
Take this shit for example:'Colonialism is associated with repression and exploitation and slavery. We are not thin-skinned but you have to draw the line somewhere. For a leading university like Cambridge it is amazing how ignorant some people can be. 'Really? It was the British Empire that ended slavery, that opened up trade to many parts of the world. Established courts and legal systems that still exist in many parts of the former Empire today and based on Labours piss poor lawmaking quite a few of our former colony's are better places to live than the UK.
Of course the self appointed tofu eating, New Labour voting cuntmonkeys who know nothing of their own history and distort what little they do know will claim victory. They will now look for ever more symbols, signs and things to take offence at.
Everything from St George's day parades to student piss ups. It matters not, a quick accusation of racist behaviour and lo it shall be banned.
I wonder when they will notice the oppression of women, homophobia and intolerance of other ideals so common in Islam? A slave trade that Islam did nothing to stop we sent troops to oppose.
Where the British flag rose over Africa slavery was ended, in other parts where the cult of Islam ruled it went on long after slaves were free in our colonies.
They represent ideals offensive to every free thinking person, they allow no choice, no decent from their belief in moral superiority, they have no level to which they will stoop to gain the upper hand.
Their continued breathing offends me.
10 people have spoken:
'Colonialism is associated with repression and exploitation and slavery. We are not thin-skinned but you have to draw the line somewhere. For a leading university like Cambridge it is amazing how ignorant some people can be. ' I'm sorry, and forgive me, yea even correct me and villify me if i am wrong, but isn't "socialism" one of the words associated with at least the first and second of the attributes aligned with "Colonialism"? Fucking brown nosers.
Indeed, they might be annoyed in the knowledge that when we closed down our Empire our colonies were handed over with little trouble other than India/Pakistan being the obvious example.
shit, how didest this thou happenest? Truly i believest that i was posting a comment aligned to thy previous post concerning the iRANT Keyboard. Ah well bugger me sideways with a Carol Thatcher affiliated, spikey fisted Golliwog, i got it wrong. (word veri = flatuahe, appropriate for myself i would have thought)
Please sort your blog problems out.
Was Wilberforce black? No, then he should never have lived. The white race must be desroyed ASAP.

"1899’ - [ .. ] and concentration camps were used for the first time."
No, some few years earlier, by the Spanish in Cuba .. I think.
I've been following this Cambridge story and find it hard to believe that they have backed down in such a cowardly way.
So now " British Empire " is banned and on the list of the Righteous as inappropriate.
Will the Dons be purging their libraries, expunging all references to it ? Perhaps future generations might find secret stashes of British Empire Crime-books secreted in the room where they used to hide Classical pornography.
I care nothing for the righteous but Cambridge should hang their heads in shame.
Btw, an academic historian told me recently that Britain and her Empiire are gently being moved off the naughty step of history ( these things always go in cycles ) so Cambridge are not even being particularly on message,
Events like this with the white-guilt "self-flagellation" from our colonial past and the constant need to be seen to be ethnically diverse and politically correct like the police force who went on Gay march seems to me to be very unhealthy. I think in years to come this will be seen as a mental health issue and have a recognised physiological diagnosis similar to the Stockholm condition.
Like the analysis anon, shall be using some of that the next time some loon starts on blaming whitey again.

I've been commenting on cif for a wee while and I can see that some are 'selective' in their logic and are silent when certain things are pointed out to them but I can say for certain that there are ones who genuinely believe everything they say and hold two contradictory arguments at the same time or doublethink. An example is as you mention cif is a haven for feminists, gay rights etc and supports Islam yets Islam is anti-woman, homophobic and basically against every rights for non Muslims.
I'm not sure if I'm explaining this properly but this article explains adequately what I'm getting at in this American article
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2007/9/23/83652/6735
"I know I'm a Jewish lesbian and he'd probably have me killed. But still, the guy speaks some blunt truths about the Bush Administration that make me swoon...
Okay, I admit it. Part of it is that he just looks cuddly. Possibly cuddly enough to turn me straight. I think he kind of looks like Kermit the Frog. Sort of. With smaller eyes. But that’s not all…
I want to be very clear. There are certainly many things about Ahmadinejad that I abhor — locking up dissidents, executing of gay folks, denying the fact of the Holocaust, potentially adding another dangerous nuclear power to the world and, in general, stifling democracy. Even still, I can’t help but be turned on by his frank rhetoric calling out the horrors of the Bush Administration and, for that matter, generations of US foreign policy preceding. "
You can't keep up this doublethink without it having an effect on your mental health as seen is the Dailykos article.
