Section 44 of the Terrorism Act 2000 - No terrorists found.

Wasting police time?

From Conservativehome

Section 44 of the Terrorism Act 2000 allows the police to stop and search people.  In 2008:

  • Number of people stopped nationwide by British Transport Police using s 44: 160,000
  • Number of people stopped in London by the Metropolitan Police using s. 44: 200,000
  • Number of people amongst the 360,000 stopped under s. 44 and found to have any terrorist material or links: 0
So 360,000 people stopped and searched and not a single one was found to have any terrorist material, not a single link to Al-Quada.

I wonder how much carrying out the resulting paperwork, police time and effort this ended up costing the taxpayers of this land?

Maybe the fine boys and girls of the police would be better employed tackling trouble in Tim Martins chav palaces.

The reason they found nothing was because they, like the politically correct wankers they are, avoided being branded racist because they racially profile. So they only stopped little old white ladies and men wearing flat caps and WW2 medals. There you go, can't say they are racist can they?

I'd rather take my chances with the terrorists and have my liberty back.
Sadly about 200 Australians have lost their lives in recent bush fires. About the same number that dies in the Bali bombing. You just cannot legislate against everything.
Life is risky and I'd rather take the risk.
