Labour's attempt to help the poor: £500,000 on single conference talking about helping the poor.

Sod the bloody African's lets hit the 12 course meal and open up a few bottles of champagne....
The Department for International Development spent £526,990 on a two-day event discussing the impact of the global economic downturn on the developing world.
The sum was £100,000 more than the total amount DFID gave to Namibia between 2007 and last year and could have bought more than 100,000 anti-malaria bed nets.

The figures, uncovered by the Conservatives, showed that the department, which provides aid to poor countries, spent £52,840 alone in flying delegates and speakers to the meeting from overseas.

Headed by Douglas Alexander MP, Secretary of State for International Development, DFID also spent more than £14,000 on accommodation for them.

The conference, called "Building our Common Future" ran from March 9 to 10 and included an "evening reception with drinks and canapés".

It was addressed by the Prime Minister Gordon Brown and David Miliband, the foreign secretary.

Organising costs, including event preparation and management, signs and display materials ran up to £335,855.

And hosting costs, including venue hire, lunches and refreshments for over 700 participants, flights, accommodation, and the provision of a prayer room were £191,135.

Shadow Secretary of State for International Development Andrew Mitchell condemned the "wasteful" spending as "inexcusable".

**I have said it before and will say it again, Labour are complete and utter fucking scum. They care more about soundbites than action.

The sort of self serving up their own ego fuckers that if they passed you stabbed in the road would go on about how the person who did that to you really needed help. Then not call you an ambulance as they are really busy and have an important meeting to go to.
