British Day - Blair Govt. Does It Again.

**Well seems that Brown and Blair have decided to play capture the flag, take back Britishness from the far right and have a day to celebrate all thats fine with this nation. In itself not a bad idea, but this is the Blair regime we are on about, a bunch of failures who cock up all they touch.

  • Britain should have a day to celebrate its national identity, Gordon Brown has proposed in a speech portraying Labour as a modern patriotic party.
  • The chancellor used his first major speech of 2006 to urge Labour supporters to "embrace the Union flag".
  • In an address to the Fabian Society in London, he said it is important the flag is recaptured from the far right.
Looking at past failures I think this is another soundbite special, to be wheeled out for a week or so to deflect the flack off failing ministers, like say Education. It seems a bit strange that they now want to embrace the union flag when the left have been howling loudly and often for years about that very same flag being essientially rascist and a hang over from the past empire and how it should be dropped for that much nicer EU flag with its all inclusive stars.

If he actually thought this through he Blair and Brown might actually realise that the reason that the right wing are getting an increase in the vote is due to their own failed policies. We have seen the prosecution of shop keepers for selling in pounds and ounces, and many cases of people being oppressed by the armies of bean counters that fill our town halls, obsessive local council employee who look into every part of peoples lives as they have nothing better to do. (WI ladies told they cant sell food as it failed to comply to some EU regulation was one I remember from a few months back) - employed to enforce tons of EU red tape, and we have the pleasure of paying for them as well.

So lets have a look at some areas where Britishness has been worn away by three terms of looney left New Labour policies:
  • Immigration - out of control and Blair burys his head in the sand, whilst the left spout rubbish about how if anyone speaks out they are some sort of nazi.
  • PC Policing - soft on crime and tough on anyone who trys to defend themself. Rights for criminal scum but none for the victims of crime.
  • Education - perverts in the schools, total lack of discipline and a rising number of kids who leave so called "sink schools" in inner city areas who cant read.
Our own state broadcaster - the BBC - has a lot to answer for in this as well, playing down every positive thing that this nation trys to do.

Of course this being New Labour it will be a pc all inclusive, watered down event. Although I think a good date for it would be the old Empire Day which was 24th May. Although another problem that I think will rear its head on this one is religion, you can bet that the minoritys will object and the Church of England will have its say if the Blair regime trys to make it a non religious event. Also just wait for the mullahs to have their say on it...

Anyone who thinks that this govt will do this and a/ no cock it up, b/ try to get some free pr out of it, c/ some Blair pal will get a cushy contract out of it and you can be ol cancer victim woman Mrs Blair will be ready to leech some cash into her purse, d/use it to promote minoritys over the majority is fooling themselves.

Lastly any national day will be a great excuse for the councils of the UK to meddle, and boy do they love to meddle- as anyone who has ever dealt with a council planning office can tell you! These are the same people who cut down conker trees on health & safety grounds, ban Christmas lights - renamed wintermas or somesuch as well as banning toy pigs from council offices for fear of offending muslims. The whole event will be watered down, satitised and made so bland it would be more fun watching the BBC news.

Whole armies of health of safety inspectors will have to agree every minute detail, forms will have to be filled in and some people still have the illusion that we are still free to celebrate our Britishness in public.
