Fight The Good Fight For Free Speech.

I am a 15 year old girl attending a local grammar school in the East Lothian area and I was brought up to believe that free speech was something that our ancestors fought for through two World Wars, to keep Britain British and to fight for free speech so that we could all voice our opinions or air our concerns.

In recent years I have taken a great liking to politics and in school was asked to take part in a class discussion. During the discussion I talked about the BNP and how they try to make Britain a better place by getting serious about combating crime and drugs with proper punishment to fit crimes and by curbing the massive influx of illegal immigrants and asylum seekers who sponge off our society. However I was disrupted by my teacher and told that the British Nationalist Party were a ‘racist’ organisation and were not to be discussed in school as it could offend others.

Not racist

I asked the teacher why she thought the BNP were a racist organisation in which she replied, “I do not want to discuss this any further in class”. I then went on to say that the BNP were not a racist organisation and by simple looking at there website and reading through their policies and manifesto anyone would be able to see that the BNP are a serious political party who are not scared to say what is really happening in Britain.

The teacher again said that she would not discuss this in class so I replied “Go on the website and read for yourself and you’ll see that that the BNP are a political party that are standing up for the silent majority of this country who are scared to voice there concerns because of today’s political correctness.”

Educating the educator

I also told her that being a modern studies teacher she should not be discriminatory towards other parties, especially when all that she appears to knows about the BNP is the usual ill-informed smear version which had not been reached through her own research.

In the end the political debate was dropped because I stood up for my rights and used my free speech in defending the British National Party even at the annoyance and misguided disgust of the teacher.

Although the debate was dropped I feel that even as a 15 year old I have won another strike for the BNP as through this some of the class have actually searched the internet to find out exactly what the BNP is all about. I hope my efforts will lead to more prospective BNP supporters and members.
