Harriet Harman - Position used to avoid

One law for us and quite another for the New Liebour aparachnik Harriet Harman.

Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman yesterday dodged a court appearance to answer speeding charges.

Despite failing to pay a fixed penalty charge in time, she was fined just £60 and given three points on her licence.

In similar cases, magistrates have handed out £1,000 fines and issued three additional points.

Last night, police denied Miss Harman had been given special treatment.

But outraged motoring groups said there seemed to be one law for politicians and another for ordinary drivers. She used the excuse that "she forgot to pay the fine because she was busy campaigning to become Gordon Brown's deputy at the time" so in short she is saying that her party work means that she can avoid fines. That she as a politico is more important than the plebs who I am sure would not have got off so easily as she did.

The politician, who earns £140,000 a year, failed to pay the fixed penalty fine within 28 days and was sent a court summons.

But critics said the decision flew in the face of Suffolk Safety Camera Partnership policy, which is run by the county council and police.

This states that the option of paying a fixed penalty is only open to motorists for 28 days.

The mother-of-three – nicknamed Harriet Harperson for her reputation as a humourless, New Labour feminist – already has a speeding record.

Four years ago she was banned from driving for a week and fined £400 for going 99mph on the M4. At the time, the AA criticised the court's decision and said the punishment was too lenient.

Paul Smith, of the road safety group SafeSpeed, said: "Here's another glaring example of one law for them and another for us.

However for us mear mortals who are not party aparachniks in the Liebour party, they would get charged the extra fine for not paying within the 28 day time frame.

That she got away with this is truly disgraceful and stinks of hypocrisy, then again why not whore yourself to a political party if you are not going to get some payback. Guess being a party commissar has its perks after all.

No thousand pound fine for her despite her previous form for speeding and no additional points, nice work if you can get it.

As George Orwell said "some animals are more equal than others...."

This woman's case is all too symptomatic of just how corrupt and sleazy this government really is.

I simply cannot believe the gall and blatant favouritism at work here by those Magistrates in Suffolk.

Can I assume that they even managed to haul out one of their Labour Party Card Carrying Members to sit on the bench!!!! Looks like it to me. CORRUPT and WICKED.

A bit of doffing the cap on the part of the justices to a member of the government is not going to do them any harm.

After all its the government who decides on which justices stay in power and get promoted....
