Faggots to the BBC

So El BBC decided to ban the word faggot in the Pogues song Fairytale of New York, as detailed on their website here. Then about 24 hours later they climbed down and decided that the word faggot was okay again. A humiliating climbdown.

Even worthless shower of shit that make up the government are doing better than that, only just.

The BBC stated:

The words "slut" and "faggot" had been dubbed out from the 20-year-old festive hit by station executives.

But after a day of criticism from listeners, the band, and the mother of singer Kirsty MacColl, they changed their minds.

Controller Andy Parfitt said the original decision was "wrong".

The BBC had said that an edited version would be played because "some members of the audience might find it offensive".

It was quite startling how over a half hour or so, the BBC cut away at various points to put their commentators on, their (if I may use the New Labour word) spin on issues.

**Maybe they might decide to not censor the Balan report on BBC bias over their reporting on Israel and their bias against that nation. Then again far easier to back down over a song than admit that our national broadcaster is racist and hates Israel.
