Sir Salman Rushdie.

Now the mad mullahs of the middle east must rather miffed at this, they have been demonstrating and protesting about Sir Salman and think that the whole Islamic world is behind them in this.

And they are, well mostly that is...except for Blackburn, where no one turned up for an protest about Salman and which had been publicised in the local paper. Even the chap who organised it never turned up. Well maybe there was something good on tv, or maybe it was raining, yes that was it - can't be to careful you know.

I wonder if this a world record for the biggest protest failure ever?

(Story below)
A PROTEST against novelist Sir Salman Rushdie's recent knighthood proved to be a wash-out.

A march had been planned in Blackburn by Tasaddiq Rehman, spokesman for local group the Muslim Council of Europe, on Saturday afternoon.

But nobody turned up at the meeting point of Bangor Street Community Centre, nor at the town hall where a demonstration was planned.

It appears that not even the organiser himself had attended, despite telling the Lancashire Telegraph that he expected high levels of interest in the march.

The British government's decision to appoint Sir Salman a Knight Bachelor for "services to literature" last month sparked controversy and fury among Muslims worldwide.

Oh there is a petition in support of Salman Rushdie's knighthood. It is open for signatures until 25 August.
