BBC Two and the corporation’s digital channels will have to show more repeats to meet reduced budgets signed off by the broadcaster’s regulator yesterday.
The BBC Trust, which met yesterday, is insisting that the corporation make “10 per cent fewer programmes”, a new element of an otherwise widely leaked cost-cutting plan under which nearly 3,000 jobs will be lost and Television Centre in West London will be sold.
Trustees said that they wanted to safeguard investment in areas such as comedy, drama and news but, with about 500 job losses expected in news and about 600 in the factual department, there were questions about whether quality would be maintained.
**So as they admit themselves services will suffer due to cuts, so as we will be made to endure less new programs will we be due a rebate on the license tax that we all have to pay? Maybe whilst the laid of workers of the Bloated Broadcasting Corporation are sorting out their P45's they might ask the directors why they have pissed away millions on talentless cunts like Chris Moyles and Jonathan Ross?
