Yes David Milicunt as I call him has cost the UK taxpayers damn near £200,000 - sure by the standards of this governments waste and ineptitude that is mere small change - but had Milicunt done his fucking job properly when he was head of DEFRA, then the situation would have been averted.
Alas no, Milicunt did what Milicunt does best, rather than order the beast destroyed and have the whole media clusterfuck over in days he did what Milicunt does best he shit a brick. Rather than enforce the law with regards TB infected animals, Milicunt avoided the flack and cravenly passed the buck(or is that bullock) off to the Welsh Assembly. When after much pissing about the law was finally enforced, thus Milicunt avoided having to make a decision and the taxpayers had £200,000 pounds pissed up against the wall in unnecessary legal fees etc.
SLAUGHTERING Shambo, the ‘sacred’ Friesian bullock which tested positive to bovine TB last summer, cost Welsh taxpayers in the region of £200,000. Welsh Assembly estimates put protracted legal costs at just over £188,000, while Dyfed-Powys police reckons its costs incurred at the Skanda Vale Temple, Carmarthenshire, on the day the animal was removed will be in excess of £10,000.
Legal proceedings were taken following a high profile campaign by temple monks to prevent slaughter notices being carried out. Welsh Assembly Rural Affairs Minister Elin Jones said the events leading up to what were two High Court judgements had not been of her department’s making. There had been no alternative and the decision to pursue legal action had not been taken lightly.
Not only had there been an animal health issue but the dangers to human health could not have been overlooked.
