A LABOUR MP told a constituent he could “stick his vote where it best pleased him” in reply to a critical letter.
Gary Scott had written to his MP, David Clelland, to question his support for certain Government policies but was shocked when he received the angry response.
Mr Clelland, who has been MP for Tyne Bridge for the past 23 years, told Mr Scott: “I do not want your vote so you can stick it wherever it best pleases you.”
To read the letter sent by MP David Clelland, click here(Pdf)I do like this bit of the PDF where this MP, lays into a voter.
How arrogant! Who elected you to speak on their behalf and trumpet what you say they think. Now Mr Clelland may think that he is right on the issues in question, fair enough. He should have as an MP, had a tad more tack and diplomacy than to tell a potential voter to just stick his vote. Lets be fair he may well get in but if voters get to think that he is himself arrogent then Mr Clelland may well find himself looking for a job after the election.
He could very easily have laid out his reasons and/or arguements for the way that he voted. Agreed to disagree as the saying go's.
Instead he has come across as a tosser.
Well as he had stated previously that he had a right to express his views, so he did and questioned his MP's voting as is his right to do. Well yes, but unless that conflicts with what the MP has to say in which case he gets a letter expressing that he is arrogant.
I wonder how many other former voters will be taking this poor MP at his word and sticking their votes onto another MP to replace the dire Mr Clelland?...
Some bits on Mr Clelland.
**Mr Clelland trousered some £146,282 in expenses off the taxpayers for the year 2006/2007, the same taxpayers that he now says can stick their vote. Nice to see him providing value for money and listening to voters. List of MP expenses 2006/2007
He voted for 42 days,, wonder what he was given by Gordon in return? here
He voted for ID cards, hereHe also voted to cover up MP expenses here
**Lastly the original letter that got this overfed, rather overweight MP all upset(how dare people disagree with him) is here: http://forums.hexus.net/question-time/141742-so-i-write-letter-my-mp.html
5 people have spoken:
I think what we need is a victim of a terrorist attack or an ex-policeman or soldier to stand against him at the next general election.
In fairness to the MP, we didn't get to see the original letter, did we? Perhaps it was indeed well overboard in the first place!
Personally, I'd rather have a straight talking politician to the usual spinners and liars!!!
There's a world of difference between a straight talking politician and an arrogant fucker who thinks he can actually write abuse to a constituent.
If the original letter was so bad why hasn't he published it? Why do we assume, as cock sucker Mrs Dale does, that the letter he received was abusive?
"...Mr Clelland may well find himself looking for a job after the election."
Hopefully he does, perhaps then he might understand what 'servant of the people' really means.
"Mr Clelland trousered some £146,282 in expenses off the taxpayers..."
Ah the source of the arrogance, he doesn't need another job as fleecing the taxpayer has paid off handsomely so now it's time to bite the hand that fed.
Read my letter to him in this thread : http://forums.hexus.net/question-time/141742-so-i-write-letter-my-mp.html
@Houdini
Would the MP be allowed to publish the original letter without permission from the constituent?
If the original letter wasn't abusive then the MP leaves himself open to a defamation action surely?
Anyways, it is go ammo for the opposition candidates when Gordo eventually goes to the country!
