A failed asylum seeker who has spent five years on the run to escape deportation was allowed to walk free from court after immigration officials couldn't be bothered to collect him from custody.Instead, a letter was faxed to DVD pirate Dun Lun Hu while he was being held in police cells asking him to attend the local offices of the UK Border Agency the day after his appearance at magistrates court.
But the 36-year-old Chinese national escaped with a conditional discharge for selling illegal DVDs and no one - including his own lawyer - expected him to turn up for the appointment.
He has not been seen since.

Gordon Brown declared today that immigrants should be required to take part in community work before they are granted British citizenship.
**Does that include Mr Dun Lun Hu making pirate DVD's?
The Chancellor argued that people who want to become British citizens needed to enter a new “contract” which showed their willingness to contribute to their new home.
Speaking in London, he said aspiring citizens must be ready to learn to speak English, as well as having a good understanding of Britain’s history and culture.
**Well Mr Dun sure wanted to stay and he sure knew enough of our culture to make living flogging knock off films.
But he added: “In any national debate on the future of citizenship, it is also right to consider asking men and women seeking citizenship to undertake some community work in our communities - introducing them to a wider range of institutions and people in our country prior to enjoying the benefits of citizenship.”
