New Labour support UK tourism: Aside from Margaret Hodge MP for tourism...

Tourism Minister Margaret Hodge came under fire today after calling British transport ‘dreadful’ and our hotels expensive and poor quality.

The minister, whose job includes promoting the country to foreign visitors, was accused of undermining the industry when she also confirmed she liked to holiday abroad, especially Italy.

Asked if she used the the London Underground, she replied: ‘I don’t do the rush hour. I used to and it was dreadful.’

The Barking MP told Which? Holiday magazine that the Tube was ‘clean and modern, compared to some of the Paris Metro’ but said double-decker trains were needed to cope with ‘overcrowding here’.

The minister said she only occasionally holidays in the UK - and claimed she liked to stay in modest bed and breakfast accommodation.

‘Mostly we see friends, but I think there is nothing better than a good B&B.

'It’s nice going into a family’s home where you can get a right good breakfast.’

She admitted she likes taking holidays abroad, adding: ‘I like to visit Italy.’

On British hotels, she sided with critics who say they cost too much: ‘I agree that hotels are expensive and I worry about the quality - only half of UK hotel accommodation is kite-marked and has the quality motif [the star rating system set up by VisitBritain and the AA].

‘Tourists need to be offered good deals and we have to make attractions better.’

Stonehenge’s facilities ‘don’t befit a World Heritage site’, she added

Tory MP Mike Penning said: ‘What a stupid set of remarks.

**Well I can't really argue with the fact that she holidays in Italy, a rather nice nation and were I on as much money as her I would be off there more often myself.

But as for some of her other remarks she should have thought about her position as Tourism Minister, a case of engaging brain before putting mouth in gear.

Also what with us all suffering from the credit crunch/recession she should really be promoting the nation a bit more and even if she prefers Italy maybe a few high profile holidays to Bognor or Skegness might not go amiss.

Still a case of another day and another New Labour cock up.

Oh
this is the vile woman who was accused of ignoring child abuse when she was head of Islington council:link

Who also thinks that the proms are inclusive enough:link

Who made my cunt list of the cunts who voted for 42 days, the cunts: the cunt list

Who's husband is a total moonbat who allows illegal alien sex offenders to stay here in the UK:link

I shall quote the wise one eye'd oracle Gordon who said in 2007:
But let me be clear any newcomer to Britain who is caught selling drugs or using guns will be thrown out. No-one who sells drugs to our children or uses guns has the right to stay in our country.
Now back to Hodge, she made £146,301 in expense for the year 2006/07 on top of her wages as a minister.

Also being a typical authoritarian Labour type she voted yes to the ID cards bill.

Ah Margaret Hodge;

Former Islington Council supremo and anything but extraordonaire.

Known in those halcyon days as; Enver Hodge - (after the Albanian despot Enver Hoxha), she demanded divisions where there were none.

I'll always remember her for evicting a former British prisoner of war, and slave to the building of the Burma/Thailand railway from his home, because he found it somewhat uncomfortable, to be living next door to an ex Japanese serviceman, and so said as much.

Somebody had to go, and to Hodge, there was never any question as to whom that somebody should be.

It was done all in the name of the self-rightious "Social cohesion", you'll understand, but from that day forward, I've cringed at the very mention of this despicable womans name, and the thing is - these days, all of this politically correct zombies are at the heart of El-One eyes government.

How the hell did we let that happen?
