Cool Britannia - Andy Burnham MP.

churches with low attendance could be turned into gyms, restaurants and multi-faith centres.

His comments follow his suggestion earlier this month that libraries could benefit from being modernised with coffee bars and abolishing the silence rule.

So we can all worship at the altars of fitness, consumerism and ‘diversity’. I wonder when the first disused mosque will be turned into a pub? Not any time soon methinks...

As for the bit on modernizing libraries that is already happening and the silence rule is there for a reason. That is people want to read books without the noise of Wayne & Waynetta chavscum eating McCrap burgers whilst their hoard of kids run screaming around the place screaming loudly.

They have a place to do that, it is called a "family themed pub" known to us as the JD Wethershyte chain. Where drinkers can see the wide range of real ales called "available soon" before wandering off to a quieter pub that does better food, allows in no kids has decent beers on tap.

But getting back to libraries, Mr Burnham seems to be missing what is already happening, many have modernised having internet, coffee areas and suchlike already - I think of our own in Newport as an example of that.

Which raises the question of quite why do we need a non job "Culture Secretary" in the first place if this is already happening.

Getting off topic a moment I also noticed that Andy was one of the MP's who voted to keep the 2nd home allowance of 24K for over paid MP's as well as the so called "John Lewis list" of goodies that MP's can blag to furnish their abodes: link

Andy was the shifty fucker who attempted to smear Shami Chakrabarti:
Human rights campaigner Shami Chakrabarti hit back at Cabinet minister Andy Burnham for trying to "smear" her association with resigned MP David Davis.

Ms Chakrabarti, director of Liberty, demanded an apology and threatened legal action if the Culture Secretary continued "down the path of innuendo and attempted character assassination".

Her comments came after Mr Burnham suggested she had been "seduced" by the former shadow home secretary's opposition to 42-day pre-charge detention and that they had taken part in late night "heart-melting" phone calls.

....He went on to say he found something "very curious in the man who was - and still is I believe - an exponent of capital punishment, having late-night, hand-wringing, heart-melting phone calls with Shami Chakrabarti".

He was one of the fuckers who thought it was all jolly fun to vote for 42 days, a piss poor badly thought out bit of lawmaking designed to bang up chaps with a touch of the tar brush about them or anyone who is suspected of having a copy of the Koran. Thankfully the Lords kicked that shit bill out. link

He also like our very own piss poor MP Jessica "Call me Jess." Morden organised to save local post offices, then voted on a bill to close post offices.

Oh and he plans to give the young folk, something called "culture hour"
Andy Burnham, the Culture Secretary, and Ed Balls, the Children's Secretary, will launch the scheme at the Young Vic theatre in London.

Schoolchildren will be taken to the opera and theatre under plans to offer all teenagers at least five hours of culture a week.

Ministers want pupils of all ages to be offered at least an hour a day of culture during the week.

Quite what that will include I don't know but I think little culture will actually end up in the so called culture hour.

Andy is not adverse to the "culture" of money as in 2006/07 he trousered a cool £129,289 in expenses on top of wage as an MP. Expensive stuff culture!

He also voted for ID cards, something which wars aside has never been part of our culture, which in my book makes him a cunt.
