Back in the early days, when Tony Blair was PM he was supported by John Smith. John Smith who died of a heart attack.

John reflected many of the views of "Old Labour" rather than the "Cool Britannia" vision of Tony Blair.

When the government threw a swanky bash for the rich and famous part of a £7.4 million pound celebration of "Cool Britannia" this was when the airbrushing and removal of John Smith from New Labour began.

Although others might argue that the infighting to replace themselves in John Smiths position started as soon as the news of his death came out.

They had been attempting to tarnish John Smith for some time, at a party get together at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow, one Tony Blair PM told the assorted guests including John Smiths widow and one of his daughters that:

"Labour would never have won the election if Smith had been leader."

Hardly the caring face that Blair loved to portray to the public? One George Galloway MP pulled up Gordon Brown saying that this was a disgrace and Brown said nothing. 

Labour old HQ had been renamed John Smith House. Now they had a New HQ there was just the John Smith Suite in Millbank. Later HQ moved to Walworth Road and there remained nothing of comrade Smith.

In the finest traditions of Soviet Russia New Labour had erased the past, a past they wanted to forget, to deride and pretend never happened.

How long, O Cyclops, will you abuse our patience? How long is that madness of yours still to mock us? When is there to be an end of that unbridled audacity of yours?

Labour & their champagne swilling backers all part of a nomenklatura supporting a leader out of touch with reality.
